When is deposit for first night taken??

Hi everyone,

A couple of years ago when I booked a room at HRH via Universal site the deposit wasn't actually debited from my card until just before the stay itself despite it saying on the website that it would be taken at time of booking(unlike at WDW who take it immediately), is this still the case or was this just a one off???

It is now taken immediately....at the time you make your res.

Hummm! I beg to difer, I am still waiting for them to take my deposit, I made the reservation in December for this August, and they still have not taken the deposit. I do have an AAA rate, so I don't know if that has anything to do with. When we went in 2004 we also were never charged the deposit until we got to the hotel the day of check-in. We had a AP rate that time. HTH

I just booked yesterday for a May stay at RPR. The deposit hasn't been withdrawn from my checking account. I also haven't received my email confirmation. I'm booked at the supersavers rate.

3-7-09: I received my confirmation. It states that a 1 day deposit is required, but I still haven't been charged for the one night deposit.

Don't know if this helps...but the past 3 times we went, I booked online using AAA rate. They never took a 1 nite deposit. This time, I had to call to get our upgrade and they took one night deposit. Maybe booking online vs. calling makes the difference??

We booked supersaver rate for our vacation two weeks ago and they never took a deposit. They took my credit card number but it was never used.

SuperSaver rate is a discounted rate when staying 3 or more nites....

3 weeks ago, I booked the supersaver rate at the RPR club level for 4 nights in December and my cc has not been charged. I also booked our Disney trip the same day, and that deposit was taken out within 24 hours.

Did you book via phone or internet?

I think it depends upon whether Mars is in the moon of Saturn or not ...

Seriously, I have found that with rare exception, if I booked online, I never got charged a night's deposit.

When I call, I am usually required to give a deposit, but it is very finicky as to when it's taken. Sometimes it's taken right after I make the reservation. Sometimes it isn't taken until about a week before my stay. Sometimes a deposit isn't taken at all. Who knows!

Just another experience.

I booked two rooms at RPR for a one night stay (12/25) standard rate. I updated one reservation to put it under my sister's info, but left my CC number on it.

Booked 3/17 am on Loews site

Rec'd confirmation email 6 hours later. It stated :
We ask that you please keep in mind the following policies. All reservations require a deposit of one (1) night room and tax. Our policy requires that you guarantee your reservation with a credit card or mail a check. If you have not already secured your reservation with a deposit, your reservation will be cancelled.

CC charged for one night stay (only on 1 room) 3/20

checked both ressies and they both state "deposit needed" but also both list my CC info

I booked the rooms one right after another, not seperately, so that may be why only one was actually charged.
