When is a good time to reserve a room

My wife, three year old daughter, and I are planning a trip from 5/17/04 - 5/22/04. I have already purchased the plane tickets ($191/person round trip from Dayton to Orlando...nonstop) because they were so cheap. I noticed that they are running a great sale right now with their "Spring Dream Maker" packages and resorts. We want to stay in the Animal Kingdom. Would it wise to wait a month or so to see if they offer any discounts for the Animal Kingdom(like they are offering now), or would the hotel fill up by then? We are looking at getting the Savanha view room. This is my first trip to DisneyWorld since 1983...so I'm a bit out of practice.

I would make your room reservation as soon as the special rates come out. But, keep your eye open for better rates as your trip draws closer. We booked our room at a special rate, and changed it for a better rate two weeks later. If a even better rate shows up, we'll change it again.

My suggestion is to book now, if you know for sure that you want to stay at AKL. Then, if and when any discounts become available, you can call and have the discount applied to your reservation. That way, you'll be sure to get a room at the resort you want, and still have the option of the cheaper rates if they become available.

You have nothing to lose by booking now. If better rates come out later just have the discount applied to your reservation (that's what we did). If you wait you risk not being able to the the resort and type of room you want. As you can see by my second counter, its never too early !

Here's another vote for booking now. And don't forget to ask for a AAA rate if you're a member of AAA. You can still apply any discounts that become available during your time period.
