I am working on a DisneyLand vacation right now but I am having second thoughts about traveling across the US by myself. Will I still have a great time even though I am going solo?

Hopefully when I do eventually get my stuff together I will be a WDW Cast Member and be able to get a great rate at the Grand Californian(insert wishful thinking). My desired time to visit the original is somewhere between early January and mid February. Can I get a good air fair price from Orlando to LA or Anahiem, somewhere btw $250.00-$300.00? Also what kind of CM discounts could I get if I go during the off season?

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated, I know a ton and a half about WDW but I am totally lost when it comes to DL.

Thanks in advance!

<font color=navy>Hi Joe :D

You might really enjoy being at Disneyland by yourself. You'll be able to see and do things that you might otherwise not be able to if you had someone in tow, especially as a visiting CM.

You might try checking Expedia or Travelocity for inexpensive airfare.

Joe,

Regarding airline fees, I was just pricing flights from San Diego to Orlando. I found RT air at $198 pp. There are bargains to be found.

I know that you can have a great time at Disneyland solo. And if you want to set up a DIS meet while you are out here, you won't be alone.

So my advice - book that trip!

You can almost always fly from Orlando to Ontario for less than $200. Just keep watching the fares. I know, because we are moving to Florida next year and check alot. You can always fly from Tampa. Even easier to find a fare there, and it isn't far to the airport.

I think I would have a great time alone. You wouldn't have to wait long for Malaboomer (I LOVE SINGLE RIDER LINES)!

I don't go alone, but sometimes it feels that way, since I don't ride many rides.

I have seen so many things that my family missed while they were riding. I wouldn't change those moments for the world!

Maybe you can find someone to meet up with?

GO! You will be happy you did!

For 2002, Jan. 6-mid February is a wonderful time to visit. We have run into crowds during the following:

Martin Luther King Saturday/Sunday; Monday is not too bad; President's day weekend; Super Bowl Sunday (1/27) used to be the best kept secret until about 1999. They closed the park 2000, 2001 due to capacity.

Fantasmic usually shows on Fri/Sat nights during winter. Parks are open M-Th until about 8:00, but the crowds are so light, you'll enjoy plenty. Choose DL for weekdays, DCA for weekends if you're on a tight schedule.

If you can customize your internet start-up page (mine is Yahoo), I have a "best fares" watcher. It updates daily on my dream airfares. We are traveling acrossed country to see relatives, & I bought r/t airline for $138+taxes on Delta. I rarely see airfare from Orlando to LAX over $198, although flying into Orange Country - John Wayne should be 20 minutues from Anaheim...try to avoid arriving at 3-5:30 p.m. :o

Hi all! I wanted thank you guys for all the suggestions, help, and assurance that I will have a great time solo.

I am having a time though finding these great air fairs you ladies seem to be finding. I checked travelocity.com, expedia.com, and others but the cheapest I found was $350.00. Could I be searching incorrectly or are these not the best places on-line to search at? I also have been looking at traveling to Ontario, Anahiem, LA, and Orange County. And leaving from my beloved Orlando or Tampa. How would I travel from surrounding counties to DL, take a cab? Thank you again and sorry I have so many questions! I can't wait for this trip(its so exciting)!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

P.S.-- I was checking out the three DL hotels/resorts and do not know which one to choose! I honestly do not really care for the Grand Californian(if it has great perks that could change my mind ;) ) but I do like the DL Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel. What would you suggest? Thanks once again!

It is probably too early to find a discounted fair. You did say you were going in February 2002? I know I am watching for a fare to WDW in November, and the fares are good through right before that. I am not worried, because I know they will go down. Probably any day now.

This is how I find good fares.

#1 - I subscibe to the Southwest Airlines internet deals. You get them in your mail every Tuesday.

#2 - Watch Southwest commericals. You will notice they frequently fly anywhere in the US for $99 each way.

#3 - When they have those sales, check with the airline you usually use. I like American to California, because of the extra legroom. Delta is convenient for trips to Florida.

#4 - I have never NOT found the other airlines to match Southwest's sales. Not only that, but American will include Orange County Airport in the sale, while Southwest won't.

#5 - You can subscibe to Bestfares and Travelocity. I haven't had as much luck with them, but I know others have. I am too nervous to wait too long for a sale.

#5 - You can request a voucher for the difference in fares if you find a better rate. Again, I haven't done this, but know others that have.

Now....as if this isn't long enough. I agree with you about the hotel. If it were me I would be disturbed by the noise underneath. I wasn't overly impressed with the hotel either. If I had a good price I would choose Paradise Pier. Mostly because I have already done the Disneyland hotel, and we like to resort hop.

Personally, I am not really impressed by the hotels at Disneyland. It isn't like WDW where the hotels are part of the fun. Of course, I am more than willing to give up a hotel, if it means I can save hundreds to use towards another trip.

Have a great time!
