When the AP discounts came out yesterday, it got me thinking about sneaking away for my birthday at the end of October (solo trip just to enjoy F & W Fest at Epcot since I won't get to enjoy much of it when I visit with my kids in September.) I almost booked CSR for $99 a night thinking I wouldn't find any availability for DVC barely 3 months out. But after mentioning it in a few other threads I posted on last night, I thought to myself, isn't this just why you bought DVC and an AP, so you can take vacations and not worry about lodging and theme park expenses? Well I called MS today, and much to my surprise, I was able to get a standard view studio at BWV of all places, for Fri/Sat 10/30-31. I waitlisted for Sun 11/1, but honestly, I never dreamed I'd get into an Epcot resort on a F & W Fest weekend. So I am just thrilled. If the waitlist doesn't come thru, I'll just Priceline something by the airport for my last night; I'm going to have to fly out at 7AM, so it will work quite nicely. (I could switch to CSR on that AP discount, but do I really want to switch resorts for one night, only to deal with DME at 4AM - do they even offer it that early?)

Anyway, I know I'm always seeing people posting and asking, "do you think I'll find anything on such short notice?" All I can say is call and ask, you might be pleasantly surprised!

If it were me I would probably opt to stay near the airport for the morning flight.. 7am.. Ouch!

I think BWV is going to work out a LOT better than CSR would have - I save $375 AND I can walk over to Epcot. I really got lucky

And yes, that 7AM flight is not my idea of fun, but a weekend away is a weekend away. I have to get home early enough to go back to work on Monday. I could get a late flight on Sunday, but I just hate that 3 hour window for DME. I'd rather store my bags at BWV and stay at Epcot til it closes, then head to an airport hotel to sleep and roll out of bed at 5AM. I can sleep a little more on the plane. It's worth it to be able to spend my b-day at Disney World!
