We are plannng a week trip to WDW for value season (Jan or Feb) 2010, and want to get two FW cabins. Have been through this several tinmes before, but last trip was in 2006, and I'm rusty.

Any quick tips? I.e. how far ahead should I get reservations? rate changes and discounts to watch for after reserving? Last time I started out with a AAA rate, but eventually settled on an AP rate as the best available deal.

I guess what it boiuls down to is - how flexible will my rate be as far as applying discounts as the actual dates get closer?

Your best bet to get the BEST rate is to email:

rhonda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com

If you pretty much know your dates, all you have to do is go ahead and make a reservation with her, put down your 1 night deposit. Give her all the information on what discounts you are eligible for, and then forget about it!!

She will automatically watch for and apply any and all discounts that she can snag for you on your reservation!!!

Really? Is there a benefit to do it that way(travel agent), rather than just book online through the Disney sites as I have done in the past 3 years?
I'm all about saving money if that's the case!

You can do it yourself, and then as discounts you qualify for come available, you can call back and make any changes, or rebook and cancel.

However, to me having Rhonda handle everything is SOOOO much easier. One quick email to her and it's all taken care of, no more 6am calls to CRO, and she ALSO will make all of your Dining arrangements for you!!!

How far out can the Fort be booked? We're thinking about mid-April 2010...you know, last minute planning here :rotfl2:

Online through the end of this year.

Over the phone, 500 days from your checkout date.

The key is not so much in getting a travel agent, Disney makes the same rates available to everyone. The key is getting a TA who is dialed in to every move Disney makes and can make sure every available discount gets applied to your booking. DreamsUnlimited specializes in Disney (it's essentially all they do) and Rhonda is their resident Fort expert. So the choice is: become an expert yourself, or put an expert to work for you, or pay too much!
:santa:

I guess I'll chime in here, with a little plug! (Since it's already been brought up, an' all) ;)

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes
