When/How did you book YOUR room?

Hi Everyone! I have a question...My save-the-dates should be arriving to guests sometime this week...so I'm assuming that they can get on our website and book their trips. Do DF and I book our rooms through our website as well? When did you all book your room?

I actually booked my room before I signed my contract (for an intimate wedding). Because the wedding planner asked me for my reservation number. Hope this helps!

When we booked our rooms, we were told by DFTW that we had to book within 4 days of "Penciling in" our date. Then we had to call them back with our reservation # so they could hook the 2 together.

I called CRO and got an AAA rate for our room - we were staying at the GF in RPC and we could use any discount we could get!

What we need is for another Custom bride to come along and describe how she booked her room.... (Personally, I think you'll find a better rate on your rooms using AAA or an AP discount than booking through your wedding website, but if those are unavailable, it would be nice to use the discount your guests get!)

I think it depends on what hotel you are staying at whether or not AP and AAA rates are better than the wedding discount. For conventions resorts the wedding discount is about 30% which depending on season can be higher than an AP rate but the AP rate might be a better value for say a value or moderate. If you use a AAA or AP discount then you just give your wedding planner your confirmation number and she will add you to the room block, same as anyone else who books without using the website.

I booked my rooms about a week after people started getting their save the dates. I called the number on the webpage and they were really great and got everything booked for me. I don't know what kinds of rates people can get with AAA and others, but the wedding rates are really good. I haven't seen anything better except the AP rates. I guess you can shop around, but you can definitely book through your web page as soon as it is up.

DH booked the rooms for our honeymoon when the AP rates came out. The AP rate was much better than the discounted rate through our room block.

We booked our honeymoon room as soon as we got the save-the-dates, about 7 months ago. The wedding rate, 30% off at the GF, was a lot cheaper than the AAA discount and we were not aware of an AP rate at that time. I just wanted to make sure I got my preferred room for my honeymoon so I booked as soon as I could

You can always make your reservation at the regular wedding rate and then change it as soon as the AP rates comes out. I did that for my planning session. They just switch the reservation over to the new rate. There is no guarantee since the AP rate rooms are limited, but you can try.

We were going to book a couple of weeks ago, but the hotels we were going to stay at
weren't in our room block.
Our planner's assistant put our rooms into our block and we recieved
30% off at the GF and AK. They are both concierge, and the
discount is cheaper than anywhere else we have looked.
We were told that we had the same amount of time to book as our guests do because
the rooms are now in our block. They gave us a number to call to book our rooms.
Our wedding is 6mths away and we plan on booking at the end of the month.

If you book using your discounted wedding rate via the room block you need to call group reservations (or book via your wedding website) using the phone number provided on your save the dates.

We booked our rooms that way and then waited to see if room discounts would be better via AP or other rates. If they are - first book the new rooms through CRO then cancel your room via group reservations. This ensures that you do have the discount and won't have an issue with a bed to sleep in!
