When does your school start?

We're on a new balanced schedule. Back to school August 1, 2 weeks off October fall break, 2 weeks off Christmas break, 2 week spring break and then out May 31st with 8 weeks off in summer.

And yes, our schools are air conditioned.

That sounds perfect!! Where do you live?

Our schools start back on August 20th. DS is starting Kindergarten so the summer has flown by! He does go back to VPK for 2 free weeks starting next week though, just to get them in the rhythm of going to school again before the big jump into kindergarten!

district I work in starts Aug. 20th, ends May 31st

district I live in starts Aug. 22, ends June 7. Parents and kids are screaming about getting out so late, they're usually done around the 1st, give or take a day.

No, not all schools are air conditioned, but most of them are.

We start Aug 27th and get out around June 6th. I like the schedule for the most part, however, I wish they returned after Labor Day.

I go back at the start of September so have about a month left. I only broke up around the 24th July. I am in the UK but don't know why our holidays are so short compared to the US. apparently you guys have like 3 months off or something? I would love that but probably go a bit stir crazy lol.

Sept. 4th here too. They've been off exactly 6 weeks, and have 5 weeks left. Plenty more summer fun here!!

August 15. But Band Camp started Monday, so my two oldest have been gone all day and it feels like school has started!

We have six weeks summer, 2 weeks at Easter and Christmas, and 3 half terms (mid semester breaks lasting 1 week each).

Still I think the long American summer holidays seem so... Lovely

Us too. Are you in CT? They eliminated February break for us (now it's a long weekend) and I think that's awful. No ski trip!

August 8th for K-12 here. And this is 5 days later than last year School got out May 19th.

DS college classes start Aug 22nd

Next year school will get out May 23rd and not start back until the 3rd Monday of August--new law

My boys start on August 20. Guess that's my first day of school also, I got a job as a secretary at their school. I started there last week, but it's quiet without the students.

Not ure if you meant my post pounds like year-round school, but it isn't. We start aug 20, end the Friday before Memorial Day. We don't get any weeklong breaks except at Christmas. No fall break at all, and only Friday and Monday at Easter.

DD started Kindergarten on Monday. We have year round in the area we are zoned for. Next year we will be changing to a balanced school schedule for the entire district.

We start Aug 22nd and get out sometime the 1st week of June, depending on how many weather make-up days the kids need.

The kids start school September 4th, but I'm wondering when we get to have summer vacation?

We went right from high school baseball into Babe Ruth baseball and softball for DD. Those just ended late last week and football practice starts on Monday for DS, every day until the end of October.

So, starting Monday, DS's "summer vacation" is over.

We start the Wednesday after Labor day, as usual. It's 9/5 this year..which happens to be my son's birthday. Poor kid. LOL His first day of Kindergarten was his birthday, too.

Kids start Aug. 20 here. Last day for kids will be the Wed. before Memorial Day. We get a week off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas/NY, a week for Easter/spring break and a few long weekends.

All our schools are air conditioned. In Louisiana we sometimes need the ac in the middle of winter!
