Does anyone have a date for the demise of the WestEnd stage? Also, has anything more been decided regarding the changes to the clubs in PI? I sent an e-mail to Disney questioning whether the Adventurer's Club was being closed and defending its remaining open. I got a reply with a number to call but haven't followed up yet an the message is in my work computer. I'm a little concerned as I specifically asked if the rumor concerning the AC was true and the Disney responder didn't answer one way or another. We bought our park passes today and we're under 2 months so I'd appreciate any new info on these changes.

Hi Bill From PA. I'm sorry I don't have info for you but would you want to pass along the # to call when you get it? I would be SICK if the AC closed. We just discovered it on our last trip and went twice. It is so great. I would very much like to voice an opinion on it and thought maybe the phone # would be the best way. What do you think? Thanks.

No official confirmation from anywhere as to whether any of the PI clubs will be closed. The rumors are all over the place naming various clubs as the ones to be demolished, but they are still just rumors. If there's a date for the demolition of the stage (which is apparently a sure thing), I don't know it. In January they will apparently be ending the fireworks and nightly "New Years Eve" celebration.

I'll be there at the end of January. I'll see if anyone has heard anything. The bartender will probably tell me right? Of course, we could know by then, but if not, I'll see what I can find out.

heard on a Podcast that they were going to put in an ESPN zone at PI

harleyquinn,

I'd really appreciate your investigative work next month and the CMs at AC and other clubs would be a likely source. I've found Disney to be responsive to their guest's input. I wrote them when they substituted a Character Caravan for EE. Someone from WDW called me about this and because of customer complaints a modified EE was reinstated. If they're even thinking in this direction, now would be the time to rally some pressure from AC fans and stop this in its tracks.

Ok Bill, will do!

And if I get bad news, believe me I'll be organizing a complaint chain! Lets hope for good news though. :goodvibes

So do we know why they are making all these changes suddenly? PI has always been busy when I've gone. I'm not surprised about the fireworks, that has to be expensive. I don't mind losing that stuff--I actually thought it was a bit lame, but they can't take away the AC!

We are going in feb for daytona will get any info from the bartenders and tell ya Kugaloosh

There's a rather lengthy thread on the Rumors board on this, but it boils down to low attendance at some clubs and Disney's perception that WDW needs, or could better profit from, more restaurants. The difficulty of getting PS at peak times seems to support this. Also, the area along the waterfront, some of which is occupied by the AC, is considered prime territory for the changes rumored. One of the Imagineers (Rhode?) is quoted as saying the AC is safe, others dispute his influence in this although he 'Imagined' the AC, Mexico the new Everest ride and he's featured in several Disney promo tapes I've seen. If the closing of the AC is a baseless rumor, I'd like to know it and forget it. If Disney is exploring this, I'll start something to rally the faithful to put an end to it.

I am not going to worry about it until something is officially confirmed.

West End Stage is slated to go sometime before Febuary is the date I was told. It'll stop being used as of January though.

I hear that Adventures Club is safe for the time being, and that this "phase" is only to demolish the West End Stage, and make a continuous walking path from the West Side to Pleasure Island. It is rumored that the BET Soundstage will go, as it partially stands in the way of the proposed path. The bridge that goes next to Planet Hollywood, or the "Daytime Pleasure Island bypass" bridge will also be removed.

Oh my goodness! I'll have to keep up on this - the possibility of AC closing will KILL DH! I'll never get him to go back to WDW again!

I could care less if West End Stage goes and the whole every-night-is-NYE is very lame and just needs to stop.

More restaurants? Hmm... my fav DTD "restaurant" is EArl of Sandwich! More places like that would be great...

I will be there on Feb. 3-7th and will give you an update when I get back about the Stage and other things going on at PI. I do hope they keep AC as that is about the ONLY club I like at PI anymore. Well, that and the Comedy Club. ;) The rest can GO!

To all the short-timers here, enjoy your trips and keep us posted on PI developments. I, too, am selfishly concerned only with the fate of AC and CW. Our typical night there is to catch the early CW show then spend the rest of the evening at the AC with perhaps a Gyro to soak up the Coronas consumed.

Happy New Year!
