Everyone can participate. Audience members can win prizes, too.

But see, right there is the separation. Players vs. people that didn't make the cut. Why have a game that makes people feel a divide?

That was my point. I don't get why people are getting so defensive about these questions (and it's interesting to note that the ones getting the MOST defensive have a wpasadi sign in their sigs  ). Nobody's getting "snarky" or "upset" or "inconvenienced." Why can't we ask a simple question?

And like someone else said, there were a few who WERE kind enough to explain why it's not on the games board.

I think the original idea was to have only 77 players. Ty and Tim expanded it to have way more. The banner was at the top of every single board on here for weeks. Plus, the leadup to the secret project lasted even longer than that.

I know that if I hadn't been picked to be on a team, I would have been disappointed, but I would have wasted no time signing up to be an audience member. Besides the fact that audience members can also win prizes, I would have just liked to have been a part of Wpasadi any way I could, because it seems like a really fun game. That's what it's supposed to be--fun.

There are thousands of members of these boards, yet only 200 can directly participate. Why can't something be created that would give everyone a chance to win these prizes? I visit the boards daily, but do not live on them-this game is something that many, many members cannot participate in due to time constraints.

Everyone was given the opportunity to apply to be on a team, only some were selected.

The game will take some time as the teams and players are narrowed down (just like on Survivor, Apprentice, etc.)...

If folks are already tired of seeing these posts just ONE day into the process, imagine how they would feel if over 100,000 people were competing.

I totally agree, especially with the last point.

Well, excuse me for my ignorance! Speaking of cutting people some slack...
Uhm, do you realize you are talking to a Mod that way :confused3

I guess because there were more applicants that player slots.

I'm not trying to fight. I thought you wanted to be in on the fun. If you don't, that's cool...and I'm sorry if you thought I was being mean...I really wasn't trying to be.

But if you do want to, please join in!!

LOL! What difference does that make. She was just saying to the mod what the mod said to her! :lmao: I'm sure the mod can take it if they dished it out that way!

I don't understand why people are upset that everyone can't participate. Everyone CAN participate. I was totally involved in figuring out the mystery of what the contest was going to be. Once it was revealed, I decided I didn't really want to "play the game", so I signed up as an audience member anyway...just as everyone else can. :confused3

i looked through this thread and didn't see it, i'm sorry if i missed it, but if anyone needs the link to sign up to be an audience member it's in my signature. :)

How would I know that if the mod was in disguise? He scolded me for not paying attention and then told everyone to cut people some slack. Frankly, I thought it was mean and it seemed like he wasn't taking his own advice.

I don't understand why it is so offensive to some people that there are many of us who honestly didn't know what was going on.

If I'm going to get kicked off the DIS for not paying attention to contests and particpating in a thread where people wondered what was going on - then so be it.

Now that there is a sub board, there shouldn't be nearly as many threads on the CB and things should calm back down.

You can't understand why people would be upset that teams were picked and they were excluded from playing on one? Come on. You may be eligible for a prize in the audience, but you aren't playing the game the others are.

It's great you want to be part of the audience. It would have been great if the idea behind the audience category was to provide an avenue of play for those that don't have the time or inclination to play on a team. Instead it appears to be a consolation for those that didn't make a team. Sorry, but I find that to be a bit condescending.

I was prepared to not make a team and I would have been ok with that (a bit jealous when there was a lot of talk about the contest, I'm sure, but still ok). My sister has applied to be on Survivor and my sisters have applied to be on Amazing Race and not gotten on those shows. If there's ever another family Amazing Race, I'll probably apply with my sisters or my kids and I might apply on my own (with one of my kids) sometime. We don't expect to get on these shows, even though we'd like to.

The DIS contest doesn't take away from the posters who do not participate for whatever reason. It's just an added thing for the people who are able to participate.

You weren't scolded, you were corrected. You commented that people wouldn't know about it unless they clicked on certain threads, and that was inaccurate.

Same question ran through my mind. Seems it should be on the game board.
