When does the Universal Annual Pass begin?

Is it 365 days from the day that I buy it or the first day that I visit ? I will be signing up online. We go to Orlando in the beginning of Oct every year and I was hoping to be able to use the pass around the same time next year, before it expires. I don't know if I will renew it after that. I do know that it automatically renews. Does anyone know if you get any discounts to renew it?

It begins the day that you activate it, i.e. get your picture taken for the real AP. What you ordered online is similar to a voucher for the real AP. When you go to the parks the first time to activate it will be the first day of the AP. So it will expire 365 days from your first visit.

I just renewed my AP today. the newsletter that I got said that if I renewed within 30 days of my expiration date I would save $70 (not so sure about that) but I paid $99.95 plus tax to renew my 2 park preferred AP.

I am so glad that I don't have to get another picture made and can use the same pass that I have now. sorta happy with my current picture Linda
