When does the Park Ticket begin?

Is it when you check into the resort or when you go to your first park? My problem is that I made a package reservation for five nights and had to change it to six. I know, what a problem. But while I changed the resort days, I couldn't change the number of park days on the ticket. It remains at five. So I'm wondering if on that sixth day I'll be out of luck when I go to attend a park. I check-in on a Friday and checkout the next Thursday.

Any ideas?

Your ticket starts when you enter your first park.

After you check in to the resort and after you receive your tickets (on room keys) you can add the sixth day.

Be sure to decide on everything you want to add -- non-expiration, seventh day, eighth through tenth days, water park fun, etc. -- and add it all on at once. You get only one chance to upgrade a ticket, thereafter further changes have to be in the form of pro-rated trade-in where the exchange rate is worse.

If one of your six days is for water parks, Disney Quest, etc. only, you don't need the sixth park day on your ticket.

Your ticket does not start until you put it into a turnstyle at a park to activate it.

We just returned Sept 24th. I have an AP, but in order to get the free dining had to buy a park ticket that matched everyone else's in the room. I could have bought us all just one day base MYW tickets, but decided I wanted a 7 day MYW with pluses to use next year after my AP expires. I double checked at guest services at my resort when I checked in and they showed me in writing where the ticket was not activated until after its' 'first use'. My last day I went to guest services at MK and tried to get the room key ticket changed to a regular MYW ticket. The CM said they couldn't do that, but did run the scanner over the ticket and verified it had not been activated and told me I could still come back years from now and use the ticket reguardless of the date on the room key. He verified I did not need to buy the nonexpiry option since the ticket had not been activated and wouldn't be until I stuck it in a turnstyle at a park.
