When does the new 'nightly' room rates go into affect?

I thought I read somewhere on this board that the new 'nightly' room rates were not going into affect until January 2008. Yet when the new Disney Visa code was applied to my reservation my 'value' rate was converted to the 'holiday' rate based on the new nightly room rates. So in the end, most of my Disney Visa code savings was wiped out.

Did this happen to anyone else?

This happened to me too. As another poster said, it is a little "sneaky" of Disney to change it up on a package you've already booked. But at the same time, we're modifying the reservation with a code so I guess that it's only fair that they can modify it too. As long as it doesn't end up costing more (which apparently can happen, so watch out for that).

At least I'm still saving some money on my package at POFQ. It's just not as much as I had hoped. So I guess I can't really complain.

I crunched the numbers and I am getting about 16% off the room with my my new Disney Visa package for December 17 - 26, 2007 (3 value nights, 6 holiday nights). But that 16% off is based on my original package where they were all value nights. So if I took into consideration that the base night rates could be variable, I am saving even more.

Other DISers are reporting savings of 30% - 40% with Disney Visa but that is for packages booked completely in the value season.

Oh well, at least we're still going to Disney!

I asked that question of a CM today and he said the rates went into effect in July!! I was really surprised. He said that is why they no longer give a nightly quote, but a total room quote.

I asked because I was pricing a mod for thid Dec 1st, which is listed at $99 in value season, but my rate was coming oiut to $105 before taxes - he confirmed it was value season, but that there would be a rate change over Fri & Sat nights.

Said he worked for Disney for 5 years, but I'm wondering if this is correct info.

It took the CM applying the code by surprise as well. She re-applied the code several times and could not figure out why the code did not produce a bigger savings.

It was someone on the DIS boards that told me how the discount worked when crossing over seasons. I wonder if the CM at CRO ever figured this out. She just kept saying she was so sorry that the code discount savings was not larger than $56.25.

You are so right. I DID save and I AM going to Disney World.

Our reservation does not qualify for a code 25/12 to 3/1 but I am wondering if Disney will change our reservation from all nights at holiday rate and split the latter part of the stay to value as it will be 2008. Somehow, I bet they don't!
