EVeryone knows this feeling and everyone experiences it differently. When do you get that first twinge of a feeling that you are going home? When does the true "Im Home!" feeling kick in?

For me, the twinge of a feeing starts the morning we leave for the airport. My stomach is doing flip flops, i'm insanely giddy and no matter what you do you cant wipe the silly looking smile off my face. I know that Im on my way back to my favorite place on earth.

I have several times that the Home feeling hits me.

1. Stepping off the plane at MCO, feeling the warmth outside. Stepping onto the airport monorail and feeling that Florida sunshine streaming in through the windows. Stepping outside once we've grabbed our bags, that first smell of the distinctly "Florida" smell.

2. Driving under the WDW Gates (duh! :P)

3. Walking into the lobby of our resort (usually CSR but this time WL :)) and soaking up the experience that I am indeed Home at last.

To me, most of my feelings are heavily linked with smells, and everyone knows there is just this carefree magical feeling once you drive under those gates :)

"Delta Airlines would like to be the first to welcome you to Orlando"

Gets me everytime!

Once I catch a glimpse of the castle, I just get a warm glow and a permanent smile.

A couple of weeks ago it was when I was walking over the bridge to Tomorrowland. I looked at my friends, smiled and said "God it feels good to be home." I truly never get tired of that place. I swear I could just sit on a bench all day and still be happy.

It really starts to hit me a few days before our trip when I start seriously packing. The day we get in the car and begin our drive I just have to let someone walking on the sidewalk as we pass by know we are going to WDW (yes I really do yell it out the window ;) )

When we pass under the welcome arch at WDW I am usually starting to shake a bit and the butterflies are in full force.. by the time we pass underneath that WL arch I am in tears.. happy tears.

The ride on the "mini-monorail" at MCO does it for me.
Yeah... Its definitely getting in that Mini-Monorail and stepping outside to get to the garage and being Hit with the Warm Florida air. AHHHHH!!

You know its funny but it never seems to be raining when we arrive in Florida. Its alway sunny out, no matter what time of year we go. Weird.

I like the monorail at MCO and driving under the WDW gate, but it's not until I enter a park that I truly feel "home." Can't wait--the countdown is on!!

Hmmm... it's hitting the resort room for me too, I like to just fall back onto the bed & let out a big sigh of relief. hehe ::MickeyMo

WOW, i'm going to have to show DH this thread. He thinks i'm crazy every time we go to WDW, I say I feel like i'm going "HOME". Actually, no one in my family gets it.

I have to say I get the feeling as soon as we leave our house to go to the airport. I get all giddy and can't stop smiling. :flower:

The minute I enter the MK just after you pass the train station..The Emporium blocks the castle but as you walk the castle come into view...that's it for me! As soon as I see just a sliver of the castle I get butterflies!

I'm giddy now, can't wait to be there.

This is going to be the longest 2 days of work ever. :goodvibes

LOL!! When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought 'the monorail at MCO!!' and then immediately thought 'everyone here is going to think I am a nutjob for not answering the castle or the Epcot ball or something!'
Glad to see I am not a nutjob, at least not on this board...just to those non-Disney fanatics out there!

For me, it's when I'm sitting at the bus stop at our resort for the first time during our stay. Usually it's when we're all settled in our room and we decide to head out to DTD for our first evening...we get to that bus stop to wait for the bus and I just smile and think about how good it is to be back home. My husband and I have even referred to our room as "home" before...talking about how we need to head home for a few minutes to change or grab something, etc....we both totally understand the feeling of being "home."

when I walk through the Wilderness Lodge Villas door I know Im "home"!
(oh ya, I am - it is my second "home")

This is such a lovely topic, and it made me really nostalgic for Disneyworld and excited for my next trip in Sept! :goodvibes

I start feeling like I'm home after I first get on the bus going somewhere. We usually drive down at stay at PORS; Getting there all grimey and rumpled from driving all the way from WI, I still feel a bit "in transition" driving through the gates, hitting the lobby, etc. But once I've had a shower and feel human again, and I'm sitting there on my way to the first theme park of the trip, I really feel like I'm settled in and ready for the experience! :earboy2:

We drive so I get super excited when I hit I-4.

I get even more excited when we hit International Drive. I become more giddy when I am officially on property.

That true feeling doesn't hit I guess until I am actually in my room and on my way to do something Disney-esque.

I know I am Home when:
~we are in the towncar from MCO to the resort and see all of the Disney billboards along the highway :goodvibes
~we pass under the WDW sign :wizard:
~we arrive at the Yacht Club (or whatever resort we are staying in) and take in the smell, ambience, and feeling of actually being in Disney and on vacation!
24 more days, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
