If we book our cruise within the next few weeks for June of 2006, how long on average do we have to pay the whole thing off?

The $200-250 deposit pp is due at time of booking. You pay in full 90 days prior to sailing for cats 1-3 and 75 days prior to for cats 4-12. This is according to the new passporter :)

Note, the deposit amounts can be much higher than $200-$250 per person ... 10+ night cruises and categories 1-3 (regardless of length of cruise) have higher deposit requirements.

Our 14 night cruise had the exact same deposit amounts as our 3 and 7 night.

Did you book the 14 night repo cruise back in May 2004 or later in 2004 after the policy change?

We booked the first day of booking (5/5/2004) and had the $250 per person deposit and 60 day final payment date.

The change the policy sometime between July and Sept 2004 so now final payments are due 75-90 days before you cruise and SOME of the deposits are higher.
