When does the 50th Anniversary end?

Will it be happening for the rest of 2006? Or does it end sooner than the end of the year?

Also, any idea if there will be a special celebration in 2007? I seem to think they always have a celebration of some sort but just wondering what the next one may be.

Word is that it will end Sept. 30.

Sometime after this the "year of a million dreams" celebration/marketing campaign will begin.

I was told that the 50th officially ends Oct. 2nd, but that just means that the golden decorations will be taken down; most of the really cool stuff (shows, parade and fireworks) will continue to the end of the year.

As Oct 2 is a Monday, I would not be surprised if you are exactly correct. Meaning that Sunday Oct 1 would be the last day. And I agree that not much will change on Oct 2 vs 1 except for the decorations. But in the months following things will change more - no one knows for sure how long the Parade of Dreams or Remember Dreams Come True fireworks show will last. These were both specifically developed for the 50th, and both are very good. But how long can they last in their current form before looking silly because it is no longer the 50th? It would be wonderful if someone could figure out a way to un-50th these and then keep them for many years to come.

Hi Everyone:

I'm new to this board, I've never been to DL before, but, came here to plan for a 10/06 trip.

I know the celebration is changing, but, I don't think it's a coincidence that both the Parade of Dreams and the Dreams Come True Fireworks, have the word "Dreams" in them and the new celebration is called "Year Of A Million Dreams". Or at least I hope not. DH and I are hoping to see both in the middle of October.

Hi Daisimae:

Since you are planning a first trip to DL, you may get some useful information out of my recent extended post here:

Hi HydroGuy: I just found it and read it. Thanks so much for writing it out. DH and I will definetly be using it and reffering to it often as we plan.
