How many days do you need to go in a year for a nonflorida resident for it to be more cost beneficial to buy an annual pass over just buying tickets for multiple trips?

An Annual pass is $609

A 6 day ticket with park hopper comes to $358. So if you are going to buy 2 6 day park hoppers (or longer) per year, it seems to me the AP is the way to go.

Or, if you would like to go several times and only stay 2-3 days each, I think the AP starts to make sense quickly because the short duration tickets are so expensive, and so is the no-expire option (if you know you'll use them in one year)

We go to Disney each Summer for 10-12 days. We alternate June & August so we get 2 trips or 20-24 days out of each Annual Pass. This year we got 3 trips:thumbsup2

Thank you for this question because I have been thinking the same thing. I will have 2 7-day trips within a year and was thinking it would work well.

Also, what is the break even point for TIW?

The TiW can be purchased by Florida Residents, DVC Members, and Annual Passholders. It gives a 20% discount on food and beverages (including alcoholic) at most tables service and some quick services location on WDW for up to ten people at a time. When you purchase it, the card is valid for the remainder of the current month plus 13 full months.

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

For the complete list of locations and the rules, go to www.tablesinwonderland.com which is the Official Disney site.

Based on the current pricing, the following is the break-even point for menu pricing (assuming you will routinely give an 18% tip):
AP Holder or DVC Member ($100) is $469.48
Resident (not AP holder) ($125) is $586.85
Both of the above take into consideration that the Sales Tax is also discounted.

We love the annual pass. It also gives you a lot of discounts including resort discounts that you can add the dining plan to.

Also with the AP are room only discounts which are usually better than other discounts. Plus there are shopping discounts. And then renewal for the next year is a bit cheaper.

We get APs when planning on going again within the year. For example, go September 2013, and again in Sept 2014. You just cant go the same week- next years trip has to be a week earlier.
It is worth if for the hotel discounts for us.

With 2 7 day trips? Yes. I'd get the annual pass. Then, think about getting tables of wonderlad (I think that's the name) that gets you 20% off the sit down restaurants.

For the hotel discounts, can it apply to multiple rooms? For instance on an upcoming trip, I am booking and paying for 2 rooms- one for myself and one for parents. CAn discount apply to both rooms?

We have loved having our AP's this year, it will be hard to go without after this.:)

AP pass gives you free parking and plus 10% discount on merchandise. Also inside the booklet, there are some other perks, 1/2 off mini-golf, restaurant discounts, usually lunch time, movie ticket discounts at AMC, and some other perks. Plus park-hopping ability.

I think the break even point is about 10 days if you were getting park hoppers.

I am considering an annual pass for my daughter and I since we are planning 2 trips within 12 month period. I understand that when I purchase the annual pass, I receive a voucher to exchange at Guest relations. If I purchase the AP's prior to our 1st trip, am I able to get the discount on resort rooms even if the passes haven't been activated? TIA. These boards have been a wealth of info when planning our trips! :)

Yes, you can if you call for the reservation, and you will need to show the real AP at the front desk within 24 hours of check in.

You may want to consider, if you were booking a RO reservation and not a MYW package with dining anyway, getting the best deal you can on tickets (as long as their gate price is less than the price of the AP you plan to get) and upgrade to AP after using them to enter a major park at least once. Go to any Guest Relations window after you've used the tickets and ask to upgrade. If they don't mention price bridging, ask about it. If they tell you no price bridging, ask for a supervisor. If the supervisor says no price bridging, ask for the tickets back and try another Guest Relations location. I believe Cheshire Figment determined for an adult, buying a 6-day MYW ticket with PH using the Mousesavers link to Undercover Tourist and having it price bridged was your best value.
