When does disney cruise to hawaii?

The roundtrips from LA the first time DCL went to Hawaii sold great. The last time they went they were one way trips between Vancouver and Honolulu. I don't think they sold as well but the price was sky high, the itinerary was not the best and they were at an off-peak time of year. Hope Disney will decide to go back to Hawaii, did both the round trip and one of the one-ways and enjoyed them both very much. Was disappointed that DCL didn't have any for 2017 so we are going on Princess -- the benefit is that Princess has roundtrip sailings in December -- when we have a better chance to see whales in Hawaii!

So the earliest DCL may go back to Hawaii is 2018. If they do, we're hoping they do some roundtrips again instead of those one ways.

As others have say 2015 one way both ways sold very very bad. DCL was almost giving them away to cast members and the ship still wasn't full. I was on the first one Vancouver to Hawaii and I will book in a heartbeat when or if they have a one way again. But not counting on it.

I'm surprised they don't given the presence of the Aulani resort. Seems like a missed opportunity for brand synergy.

Maybe it was the long flight there or back that people didn't want to do :confused3 We flew round trip in 2008 and it was a 10 hour nonstop flight. The jet lag was a killer going west and hit us hard.

And weren't they after the Alaska season ended? We would be interested in such a trip but not when school is in session. But they'll never do it during a summer break.

The very first DCL Hawaiian cruise was in the spring, right before the Alaskan season (their big money maker.) The second one was right after the Alaskan season. As long as the Alaskan cruises are profitable, DCL won't interrupt that season for less-profitable cruises to Hawaii. It would be nice if DCL could afford to keep the Wonder on the west coast permanently and do at least two Hawaiian cruises per year, but the ships have to go where the $$$$$$ is.

Perhaps after the two new ships are in service, they will keep one ship on the west coast and have Hawaii as one of the itineraries.

Yes there were cast member and interline rates on that cruise. They didn't offer any GT rates or military. I'm not sure why. There were a lot of Gold and platinum members on the cruise. It's hard to say what percentage of cruisers were sailing on discounted rates since the discounts offered weren't open to the public. San Juan doesn't sell that well, but they keep going back. Our Iceland cruise had all kind of discounts, and they are going back there. Maybe they just need to lower the price a bit and change the time of year. Offer GT rates and military. Sept is a really slow travel month because kids are starting back to school. If they pushed it back to Oct when a lot of kids have Fall break I bet they could sell those cruises.

We were on the cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii and loved it. I keep looking for the next one and several of us from our last cruise will book again in a heart beat.

Well that's a disappointment that disneys not doing hawaii cruises. So then which cruise liner do you guys think is the best one to take to hawaii? Which one has the best stuff for kids to do. We have a 10 year old boy. Well he will be 11 when we want to go in 2017.

I'd suggest Princess. I've read good things about their kid's clubs.

Can we find discount rates for princess or are they like dcl and what rate you see on their site is what you get?

Isn't the foreign port requirement the reason they don't have a just Hawaii cruise?

Not sure how the Princess system works. But I do know that, if they aren't selling well, they may offer discounted upgrades on an already existing reservation.

Do you mean like the Pride of America does? Just around the islands? In order for a ship to be able to do a US ports only cruise, it must be flagged as a US ship.

A foreign flagged ship must visit a foreign port during a cruise.

I don't know about Princess, but from looking at Royal and NCL they seem to always be offering some kind of discount or sale. Royal moves some it's ships to Australia in the Winter so you might check their site. They might have cruises from Seattle or Vancouver to Hawaii.
