When does AP make sense?

So, two things intrigue me here and I have questions:
1) Could I get an AP for just myself so that I get the discounted room rate and the photopass perk? we were most definitely planning to get the photopass

I did this very thing on our trip in November, and in one trip we "broke even" with our savings! We stayed off site for part of our trip, so I saved on parking. We already planned to get MM, so that was even. The dining discounts were really great for us! Technically, they are only supposed to give a discount to the AP holder and three guests (or four?), but I never had an instance where the discount was limited; it was applied to the entire bill.

For me, it was worth it if we could break even by the savings on our one trip. And now, we can go again for even more savings! ;)

Remember, you can also buy a discounted multi-day ticket through UT or ParkSavers and upgrade once you get to the park. That is an additional savings.

I'm looking for CBR or POR from January 16-25th.

Family of 5 on your dates shows POR starting at $159/night. CBR starting at $128/night.

Good luck! We upgraded in October as we had 3 day tickets and were planning March and November. Thank goodness for the 13 month promo. I used it an extra day in October and went with a friend this month. I love the freedom of an AP and the discounts this year shopping and dining have been great.

I'm looking for CBR or POR from January 16-25th.

Looks like pretty good availability across the room categories, but some were not available (most were).

CBR: Discount was roughly 25% compared to roughly 15% for the current public discount.

POR: Discount was roughly 20% compared to roughly 10% for the current public discount (full disclosure, I'm not familiar with the abbreviations for POR - this is for Riverside.

Hope that helps!

I've been seriously considering buying an AP for the room discount/Memory Maker/dining and merchandise discount. I am wondering if it would be worth it since I am DEFINITELY not returning to WDW in the next 2 years. Would someone be willing to check the room discount for me? Dates are March 7-14 looking for CBR or POFQ. Thanks!

Edit: can I use my AP to book 2 rooms?

Awesome! that is better than my current gift of magic offer, I'm pretty sure. Over 9 nights, plus memory maker that i was going to purchase anyway and I think we're likely to pay for the AP just in savings. I've gotta call now! Thanks for checking that for me!!!

CBR is showing standard, preferred, and pirate rooms as having an AP discount. Doesn't look like any Gift of Magic deal is available for standard or preference, only pirates. The AP rate was roughly 30% off rack rate.

POFQ is showing standard, garden, and river view as having an AP discount. Looks like no Gift of Magic offer is available. The AP rate was roughly 20% off rack rate.

I should caveat that you should make sure to call to confirm any given offer is truly available for your room/view category and party size, as applicable.

Hope that helps!

I just wanted to update this for anyone who might be in a similar boat. I went ahead and called today and my room savings with the AP discount (which had TONS of availability) was around $200. The savings for memory maker (that I was going to buy anyway) is $149, so that right there makes up the difference between my current ticket and the AP. So, the dining and merchandise discounts will be icing on the cake!

And I'm confident this means we'll take another trip in the next 13 months. LOL
