I was suprised to see some children in other parts of the country start Christmas break 12/15. That seems so early to me! Here in MA my kids go to school on 12/22 and then start Christmas break. They are only off the week between Christmas and NY and return to school 1/2.

Can you share with me when your school aged kids are off this year? We are going to Disney 12/15-22 (yes my kids will miss 6 days but I know they don't do much that last week)and I wonder how many kids are off that week.

My kids go to a year-around school and they are off from Thanksgiving holiday until the Jan 2nd. Yes, a long time (5 weeks)! We took them to WDW last year on the second week of December. A great time, no crowds.

We start ours on the 15th and go back on the 2nd. We're going Dec 19th-26th. Hoping for at least a few days of light to moderate crowds :wizard:

Ours normally starts on the Tue befor being a half day . So when I did vacation this year ( for work we do all planing in Jan for the entire year and it's gard to change days) I thought it would only be taking her out for 1 and 1/2 days .

Well they sent of the calender and they don't get the 1/2 day until that Thurs the 21st.So now shes going to miss almost an entire week.as we are going from the 18th -22nd.

Our last day of school is Friday, 12/15 and we return on 1/2. We're taking the kids out of school on 12/15 so we can get an early start on our trip. In our school, the last day before Christmas break is only a 1/2 day and it's usually filled with parties and general goofing off so we don't feel badly about the kids missing that day! :)

Wow it must be nice some of you have some nice breaks. My kids go all day on the 22nd and return to school on the 3rd. It's usually the 2nd so I better check for sure. Last yr we went all day the 23rd.

Okay, I'm feeling a little better that most people start late. I know a lot of people still take kids out of school (like us!) but it just makes me feel better crowd wise that a lot of breaks seem to start 12/22.

The same thing happened to us. Since we have to book at 11 months out for the DVC, I didn't have the next year's school calendar, so I was going by the current calendar. Well, I thought they were only going to miss 2 days, but they are now going to miss 5. My kids get really good grades, so it won't be a problem for them to make up the work. Since most schools are going so late into December, I'm hoping the first week of our vacation will be crowd-free!

I home school my kids so our Christmas break will be Dec 8-19 so we can go to Disney :cool1:

We, (including me as I work at a school) get three weeks off. 12/22 to 1/16.

Our kids wont get a Christmas break but they may get a Winter Holiday/ wonderland/ happy holidays/ any generic name but a break for what is really for: Christmas and celebrate birthday of Jesus Christ

Keep Christ in Christmas

Our kids last day is 12/14. They go back Jan 2 also. We get out early, but we also started very early --Aug 3! Can't wait! We go Dec16-22!! WOOHOO!
Also hoping for low crowds those first few days, but it sounds like we will have a lot of Dis-ers there! See you then!

Somebody's on A Track! Another Colorado year rounder here (C Track for us). Our last day of school is 12/15. When I saw that on the calendar I had a Christmas Disney trip booked so fast my head spun!

We are from MA also, Woburn to be specific. My kids have a half day on 12/22, however they are missing the 21st and 22nd as we will be in WDW!!! :wizard:

I believe we go back on the 2nd...but I will check before the time comes. ;)
