When do your kids get off for Christmas Vacation

Here in MA they get out next Wednesday, the 23rd and go back on January 4th. And tonight dd10 is working on her last paper due tomorrow - on Pop Art...it's like pulling teeth to get her to finish it..

Dh gets out tomorrow and doesn't go back until January 4th also. He had some time coming to him so took these two weeks off - he has never had two weeks off in a row! It will be nice to have him around. :)

Mine get out at 11:15 on Friday, 12/18. They go back on Tuesday, 1/5.

I'm not really sure why they didn't go ahead and let them out yesterday. They're finished with all of their work. Today, they were watching movies until lunch (they could wear their pjs, take a blanket and a stuffed animal) and after lunch they were going to PARTY! Tomorrow, they can bring in board or video games to play for the half of day they're there.

Yeah that!

We are Knox County schools as well :goodvibes

We get out tomorrow..oh WOO HOO!!! I have a workday on January 5 with the kids coming back the 6th.

My son (in HS) has a full day 12/23, so Christmas Eve is his first day of vacation. He goes back on 1/4.

Our kids have half day on the 23rd, have off the 24th and 25

THEN have half days the 28-30th, then have off the 31 and 1!!!

That's right, they ahve to go to school the week between Xmas and NY.....our teachers were on strike for about 3 weeks this fall, so now the days need to be made up!!!

I must say the school has posted on their website that if a family has plans over those days, their absence will be marked as excused and no tests or projects are to be giving at that time.

We homeschool so dd will probably do about 5 days work over the next two weeks (whatever days she chooses). But then, on Jan. 7 we leave for WDW and I cannot wait!:goodvibes

My dd's last day of preschool for the holidays is tomorrow. She returns Jan. 5.

My dd is home from college last night. Her last final was yesterday. She goes back on Jan 19th.

My 7th grader is off school on Wed. Dec 23 with a half day. They go back on the Jan 4th.

My kids go Mon. and Tues. I hope a lot of children will be absent and our school board will realize that this is an absurd calendar. Attendance counts on AYP and ABCs.

We got out yesterday for Christmas vacation and the kids were hyper!!! :teeth:

Well, there are a lot of us that have full day's on Wednesday still. The drawback of having too much time off at Christmas is going later into the summer--I would prefer to get out earlier in the summer then have a couple extra days at Christmas personally. Now, a 1/2 day on the 23rd would have been NICE since so many people travel. We had the kids check with teachers to see what they would have in their afternoon classes on Wednesday but they all have tests so no pulling them out early.

1st grade teacher here :teacher:

We still have school scheduled for Mon-Wed this week, with a full day on the 23rd (dismissal not until almost 4pm :headache:).

But with this BLIZZARD going on right now, I doubt we'll be going back to school until Jan. 4th.

I actually wouldn't mind going back to school on Wednesday...it should be an easy day.

Friday, Dec 18 was the last day of school before Christmas break. We return Monday, Jan 4. Gotta love Christmas break!

Friday was our last day for both my DD in middle school and DS in college. DD goes back on the 4th and DS goes back on the 10th. I am on vacation until the 4th too!!!

My son's school got out on Thursday, with Friday being a professional day. They sent home a letter telling everyone that the first day of Winter Break was the 21st, which I guess is technically true since Friday school's not closed (it's just no kids) and Saturday and Sunday are weekend.

Nonetheless I think that's confusing. If I hadn't already doubled checked the dates I'd look at it and think -- if vacation starts on Monday he must have school on Friday.
