Which measurement do you count for the day? I got up extra early this morning excited to weigh in, and reported my numbers. However, an hour later (and since then) it has consistently showed a pound less than my first try this morning. Do I correct my number for the week or do I count it as a head start for the new week? Next time I'll know to be a little more patient (I'll leave out the tmi portion :rotfl:). Of course, if I wait until later this afternoon, my weight will be up, so I guess it all balances out. :confused3

i always weigh my self in the morning before i get dressed, but after i pee:laughing:. that way clothes and eating aren't a factor. if i wait to weigh, then i don't get started on my water like i should because i feel like a bunch of water will add pounds. any weight drop after that due to, well, tmi, will all be a wash in the end. :thumbsup2

I'd just record the first weight you took and count it as a head start to next week. I always weigh myself after I pee right before I get in the shower in the morning.

Are you weighing weekly at the same time each week?

It is a game we play with ourselves, isn't it! Generally speaking I would suggest weighing yourself at the same time of day on the same day of the week all the time... preferably naked, but obviously this doesn't work if you are weighing in at Weight Watchers!! :lmao: Weighing yourself first thing in the morning, before you eat, will give you the lowest number of the day, usually.

I try not to get caught up in the scale game in the morning (weigh immediately, weigh after workout, weigh again after shower). But I will say, if I can put it delicately, I will delay my weigh-in a bit if I feel that a visit from the "potty fairy" is imminent.

Find a time (for myself it is usually within an hour of rising) on a day that works for you (for myself and many of the BL friends, that day is Friday), and do it then ALL THE TIME. HTH..............P

Is the reason we get on the scale to see progress or to punish ourselves for living?

I first weighed in at the clinic I go to for weightloss in the late afternoon, probably my heaviest point in the day, fully dressed, but without my shoes on. I use that as my base weight to measure my losses even though I weigh in the morning after doing the morning business. It's not accurate, but it does make me feel better. However, I know that when I go in for a weighin and body comp test not to get too upset when, again in the afternoon, I'm up 2-5 lbs more than I weighed in morning.

It is normal to gain 2-6 lbs over the course of a day, and with enough fluid consumption, that weight should disappear again by the next morning's ritual. It is doesn't, two things could be going on: retaining fluids (how much sodium did you have yesterday?) or you really have been over-indulging for a couple of days. It takes more than a day to really gain a pound of fat! (At least that is what the experts say and I tell myself when the scale jumps the wrong way.)

Frankly, now that I've lost 63 lbs, it's the way my clothes feel that gives me more feedback than the scale even though I'd like to see the numbers drop faster. Taking measurements and checking them regularly also show success.

I weigh myself so often I should get a bag to carry my scale around in.

and...um...potty fair. :rotfl2: I was so trying not to go there. But yeah, what a difference the potty fairy makes. :rotfl:

oh well, I'm glad I've got a pound start on this week. The way it's started, I'm going to need it.

I weigh in every morning, after my first cup of coffee which helps the "potty fairy" visit. I'm kind of quirky about weighing myself everyday, even if I know I was a bad girl the day before. It keeps me honest because I know if I splurge I still have to face the "demon scale" in the morning. :worship: But I also will step on the scale 3 times in a row every morning, since I have an old scale, especially if I don't like the first weight I see!:rotfl:

oh what an interesting thread haha!

just wanted to chime in and add I also weign in first thing in the morning, regardless of anything...else?

I try not to weigh everyday though because it's such a roller coaster!

I weigh first thing everyday and, if I'm going for a long run, I'll weigh before and after. It's good to measure hydration.

The naked at WW thing makes me laugh. When I went to WW, I remember being amazed at how "naked" people would get in public to get that 1/2 lb loss. Don't they know that the key is to start in the dead of winter with a parka and snow boots on? I mean, come on people!;)

I weigh myself first thing in the morning right after I pee too.
It is hard not to weigh myself multiple times a week. Weight can fluxuate so much it would be too much for me to handle.
I didn't have a scale until this year b/c I don't like the "numbers" I want to be healthy fit nicely into my clothes etc. However, it does come in handy for weight loss when measuring how much lost!
I have to hide mine during the week so I don't always see it.
