As far as tickets go, when do you think it will be back to normal, as in you buy a DL ticket and show up on any given day? I'm hoping by next summer or sooner.

My thoughts are when will it be "normal enough". When do the parades, shows, and fireworks return? That's when it'll be normal enough. I'm hoping that with the vaccines being available by Memorial, maybe by end of summer we can see things get back to normal enough.

I suspect the reservation system might be more permanent, but very hopeful that 'normal' meaning a full slate of interactive entertainment I am more hopeful we will see THAT happen this summer for CA residents. It will be interesting to see if DLR ends up providing a full experience but limited to CA residents, or ends up opening up to everyone but at a reduced experience. A big part of it will be decided by public health needs of course, but I almost think it makes more sense to open things fully for CA residents then to try to increase capacity without full entertainment.

I'm not sure it'll ever be back to what you call "normal." WDW has their reservation system in place through the first half at least of 2022.

If the reservation system stays, will I be able to get reservations to the parks at the same time I make reservations at one of the DLR hotels?

I’d say late summer 2022 once we get the last cohorts of kids vaccinated
I'm sure they want to see if the variants of the virus don't cause more issues. Also there are a LOT of people that are refusing to get vaccinated, so that could impact things, depending upon how many that ends up being.

Honestly, I think reservations are here to stay, it is the direction all theme parks were headed before COVID for a variety of reasons, so I just think COVID has sped up the process.

Most likely, DLR hotels will implement guaranteed park access as a perk to encourage people to book their hotels for busy times when park reservations may not be easy to get.

Must admit, it'll be interesting to see how Disney will check for vaccine credentials, particularly for visitors from overseas. Guess it will be their own choice if they ban unvaccinated people from visiting, unless they can show an example of a recent negative test.

Why do you assume they’ll require vaccine credentials at some point?

Reservations I think are here to stay, but you will be able to get same day reservations probably by the end of the year.

the real question is when do the masked go away and the parades/shows return. I think we wear masks into 2022, shows and parades return later this year.
