When do you start your Christmas/holiday shopping?

This year our family gift is our trip to WDW. I am thinking of giving ornaments as gifts this year to everyone else. So, I'll start buying in October. Usually, I do gift baskets but don't think I'll have the time for it this year.

Actually, I just mentioned to my DS's 9 and 12 to start making lists of things they would like for Christmas.
I like to get a head start on stuff! A BIG head start!

NO!!!! Is it time to start thinking about that?

I try to start in August and usually do so around October. I know of people who shop all year and I admire that.

I would like to shop sales all year, but we have an old home that has no storage space.... with the exception of the attic. And I am not going up there pirate:

I typically start in summer, unless I just see something perfect for someone. However, this year I am waiting until closer. I plan to start everyone else in October, DH in November, and I am waiting until December for the kids.

Every year I have tried to have so much done ahead of time, and I get caught by the kids changing their minds about what they want last minute.......or saying something totally different to Santa than what they told me! So they end up with way more than they need. I decided to wait this year because of that.............I hope it won't bite me in the butt though by not being able to find some popular thing.

All I can say is, I never start early enough and never have enough money saved for it.

I started my shopping in May when I found a great gift for my grandmother and my DH's grandmother. I usually get the harder to buy for people out of the way first, then I focus on the easier to please folks last. DH is easy--it's pretty much one stop shopping at amazon.com.

thats why I have 8 lovely full size tote boxes decorating my bedroom. Every year I tell DH, "they'll be empty by Christmas," I just don't mention that I start to fill them up again for the next year!

I already have. I'm always watching for potential gifts and stashing them away. It makes life easier at Christmas.

ACK! You guys! Are you all serious? Somebody better come get my "woman" card, I am not worthy.

I start in Nov if I'm REALLY on top of things, usually don't start until Dec.

:rotfl:

Are we supposed to have cards? So that's what went wrong... ;)

I got the first of my gifts a few weeks ago when I got DD8 2 sets of PJ Pals at Disneyshopping.. I hope to start picking up gifts each week till Im done.. I usually have alot of it done by now.. but I slacked off this year :teeth:

Every year I say I'm going to start before Thanksgiving and every year I find myself buying gifts right up until Christmas Eve.

Old habits are hard to break I guess.

NO lie, like every year, I am halfway done by now, and fully done by Octoberish.

Usually, I start the week after Christmas for the next year. Last year, however, I started my 2006 shopping around December 15, 2005. There were some cool things that will go over well at Christmas this year, but I was already finished when I found them for last year.

I hate to rush at the end!

I haven't done any yet. Maybe I need something to get me in the mood.

Like maybe going to New York and seeing the Rocketts!

I have several presents bought already but not the bulk of it. With kids they change their minds at the last moment xo it is hard to plan ahead.

I have several gifts already. I live not to far from Ft. Wayne, IN and attended the Vera Bradly sale and got some great deals. DS and I also hit the Bath & Bodyworks sale and the Yankee Candle Sale. Once school stars I'll order some giftcards from my friend's son's school (it's a fund-raiser called scripts) for the out of state relatives.
