When do you start seeing ADR cancellations

Ironically I had a BOG lunch on May 5, which I canceled due to our flight arrival time. Same with Beaches and Cream on the 4th. Now we are coming in on May 4 and could have made both of them. SO bummed.

Been checking all day, everyday for the last several days for new ADRs. Any advice on when things start to open up? A week out? the day before?

I will keep checking just hoping for some guidance.

Whatever the 'drop dead' window when a person with an ADR can cancel without paying. I think it's 48 hrs, I'll be corrected if wrong, shortly before that you'll probably see activity then.

I watch those same dates closely. Then I started "testing" with the day of and up to two days before. For example do a search today and for the 26th and 27th. I always see reservations available within that timeframe. I've been testing it for about two weeks.

Also, go to the thread named "MAY 2016 CANCELLED ADR" under the Disney Restaurant forum. People post reservations they're cancelling and give you a chance to coordinate to pick them up. I've been successful twice with this. I was able to book the BOG I wanted through a person in the thread, and also pass a BOG I cancelled on to someone else in the thread.

You can see cancellations at any time. They aren't necessarily concentrated on the day before.

They can happen at any time. But I do normally feel like I see an increase in cancellations around the 30 day mark and again 1 week out. This would be when they hit the cancellation time for a package or room only booking. But you can find them right up until the day of sometimes.

good idea on the testing. worried the forum thing could get crazy

I had to complain about the Disney website and got a supervisor callback. He said the same thing to me about ADRs. He usually books a week or just a few days in advance. Good to hear this from a guest though. thanks

Thanks - planning on checking just getting tiresome. I figured I am past the packages cancellation date, room only coming soon, but thought that maybe 24-48 hours I would see the most.

I have been cancelling and adding things since my 180 day mark. I keep changing plans and so I change the ADRs I had book. I would say keep looking and you might be able to find something. Also when you get there check to see if anything is open. You might be able to walk up and get something.

Just FYI...the Cancellation thread doesn't get crazy at all. Just check it at least daily, or several times a day is better if you want a really sought after reservation. It's never overrun with posts, and people are glad to pass a reservation on. It's not like rats scrambling for a piece of cheese, lol. Only frustration is those people who post that they "just" cancelled a reservation instead of giving advance notice so you can coordinate. You may not see the "just cancelled" post until later in the day and by then it's gone.

thanks for the heads up. I WAS assuming it was a rats scrambling for cheese thread. You mentioned you used it successfully twice. How does it work - meaning, if I cancel a ressie now, it immediately pops up for grabs on the Disney site?

Yes, it's immediately available for someone else to book. I followed the instructions of the person who had done it before me successfully and it worked both times.

You coordinate a time that you're both logged in, ie. 12:15pm. You're on the restaurant's reservation page with the date, number of guests, etc filled out in the fields. They drop their reservation at the exact moment the clock strikes 12:15pm. You hit refresh at the same time, and keep refreshing until it pops up. Both times it happened within about 15 - 20 seconds for me. It was fast. Immediately grab it and you should be good. I highly suggest you pick a time that less people will be cruising the internet. Weekday mid morning when most people are working is good.

OMG....I just remembered a website another person referred me to and it worked for my first BOG reservation. It's a reservation finder on the Touring Plans website.

https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder

I actually subscribed to this website back in March. I'm not sure if you need a subscription to use the finder or not. I use the website a lot. I even used it to request a room at my hotel. It has a layout of every hotel, with room numbers and views from the windows in each specific room.

I set it up to receive a text when the restaurant I wanted had a cancellation during the time of day I want. The website says it's still in the "testing" phase but it worked for me. When I got the text about BOG I immediately went onto the disney website and it was there. Twice I've received texts about cancellations that were times that didn't work for me so I didn't pick them up. If that happens, you have to go back in and renew your request. I didn't realize that at first. The system tells itself it has fulfilled your request and stops the search.

Thanks for the heads up. I was shocked at how low key the May reservation thread is...I will start watching the thread and see if anything pops in the the next week. I will have some to cancel too. Checked out tp too. Need to subscribe but that sounds like a great addition to their site. same with the room request. I'll look into those in more depth for the next WDW trip. Thanks again for the heads up.

You're welcome. There were some really nice people on here that helped me out. I just feel I need to pay it forward.
You may have already seen the post but if you're going to be there on the 6th there's a BOG available.

thanks. That's our AK day. Just frustrating since I canceled our 12:40 lunch. I knew it was tough to get into but seriously. nothing has opened - at least for lunch in a week. I'm on this though. Going to keep checking the thread too. Again, thank you.
