When do you start packing?

We are pulling out first thing Wed. morning and I finished packing on Sat. Everything in ready except the bathroom bag! WE will pack the car Tues. Night and plan to pull out at 7 at the latest Wed morning.

We leave Friday... and other than overnight/make-up bags, I have everything for myself and my DS packed. Did laundry over the weekend and finished packing up our clothes for WDW afterwards. DH, however, has not even started packing his bag yet. LOL! I like to be organized (OK, so I am a bit OCD), and it really bothers me if I forget something and then have to spend $ to replace it while on vacation.

With the Thanksgiving holiday, and all of the last minute stuff that needs done before we leave (we have a small, rural property with livestock--gotta have everything set up so that the neighbors can easily care for all the animals appropriately while we are gone)... it is just simpler to get most of the packing completed and out of the way ahead of time. Thursday we will spend most of the day celebrating T-day with family. Friday AM we will top off all feeders and waterers, finish loading up the vehicle, close up the house and go.

We always go to Disney in the winter, so I always pack all my daughters (in the fall) summer clothes in her suitcase and then the week we are leaving I recheck all her stuff and make my ajustments. And I always OVER pak for everybody.. :lmao:

We leave two weeks from this Friday - December 12th. Our plane leaves around 7:00 p.m., so I probably won't put any clothes in the suitcase until that morning. I just make sure everything I want to bring is washed and ironed. It only takes me a little while to fold the clothes and put them in the suitcase. I can pack pretty quickly so I never worry about it. Plus, if I forget anything, I know I won't have any problem buying it once I get to Orlando.

We're leaving on Dec. 6th. I'd like to start packing but I don't even know where to start. I kinda wanted to wait a big more to check out the weather. How early do you all start packing?

deb

I still have not packed and we are leaving Friday! :scared1: I have some serious packing to do today and tomorrow!

I start packing about 2 weeks ahead of time. I don't pack EVERYTHING, but I at least get started on it.

At this time, I usually start making a list of all the things that I use on a daily basis and write them down. So when I do my final packing, I have all the things that I need (contacts/solution/case, etc.) This has helped me a great deal to avoiding getting to my destination and saying 'DANG!...I forgot to pack my blahblahblah!'

I also start getting an idea of what I am going to want to wear. We go in Feb. and the weater can be unpredictable, so I have to sorta have 2 different 'wardrobes' in mind. We are DVC members so we have a washer/dryer in our room, so I don't have to worry having enough clothes for each day.

We are leaving the 6th also, and I have not even begun to think about packing.

The week before, I'll probably make a detailed list of stuff I want to pack, and buy the things I need to buy. I'll make a list of everything that needs to be done before the trip, and will check things off as I get them done througout the week. By Thursday, I'll have everything washed and the house clean and I'll begin packing Friday afternoon after work. I'll check the 7 day forcast on Friday to see if any adjustments need to be made.

I check items off of the masterlist as I put them in the suitcases, I also have a list infront of each suitcase and as I put an item in, I write down what I just placed in the suitcase on that suitcase's list. I do this because we cross pack using 3 suitcases, in case the airline loses a bag. Also, time is not wasted searching for something that is not packed.

We also leave on Saturday dec 6th. I have lists of general items that I don't want to forget, but I won't really pack until that Thursday or Friday, when I have a good handle on the weather.

I am mom of three plus my husband. I start with a very detailed list. What goes in what bag because when we get off the plane our room wont be ready so we need to be park ready on the plane. Then for the 8 days before it is laundry like crazy to be totally caught up as well as ok, do I need to buy anyone socks. Then two days before, I check the weather and just do it. For us it is all about layers in Dec. (I leave on the 6th too). I start at the swimsuit and end with the mittens and hats. (warm heads and hands are warm kids)....... And then we are good. I try to be done with 24 hrs left in case I need a quick run to Target for that extra pair of pants or whatever......

PS, where are all the DD, DS etc....... so I can get a clue????

We leave Saturday. :cool1:

I'll probably start packing on Thanksgiving. Be done by Friday. Waiting to check the weather one last time. :goodvibes

I make lists and pack several weeks in advance. I always have to buy things for the trip, and ship stuff if we fly. I like to be packed and have everything checked off of my list. I don't pack a whole lot quantity wise because I always do laundry a couple of times. I'd be nuts with my crew and no organization! We'd end up having to buy raincoats, fleece jackets, socks, swimsuits or something there, and I don't want to spend my time at WDW shopping for that kind of stuff!

I'm leaving Dec. 6th as well and plan to start packing on Mon. Dec. 1st.

I am a loser- I have a big rubbermaid tub and have started putting stuff in it now. Not clothes really but goggles, water shoes, new sunglasses, sun screen stuff that we don't need now because it is too cold. I also bought granola bars last week at Target because they were on sale. My husband told me that it was too early to start buying the snacks.

I can't help it I like a bargain!

I booked on August 8th, and since then have had my backpack, which I'm taking as a carry-on, open in my spare bedroom. I throw lots of little odds and ends in here, like travel-sized toiletries, etc, so that I won't forget them. About a week before I leave I take out my suitcases to let them air out, and my mom will wash my clothes during that week. I'll actually pack the day before I go, but I'll already know exactly what I'm taking, it's just a matter of putting it away! I love to pack, and since I'm leaving January 3rd this year, I might pack a few days earlier so I won't have to pack exhausted from all the festivities.

We leave the 6th as well. I usually do it a couple days before, however this trip I'm starting early. 1st off, most of my summer clothes (including capris), have been put away, so I need to dig all of that stuff out. Also, with the airlines checked bag fee and such, I want to start early so I can make sure I can fit everywhere in my goal amount of suitcases and carryons (i.e. 1 checked bag, 1 carryon each - the biggest allowed!).

If we were leaving Dec 6th we would pack Dec 5th. When ELSE would you pack?

We usually have to wait until the night before we leave. Work schedules and household chores take precendence along wiht dropping off the fuzzy children at Grandma's so if we leave on Saturday AM like planned for our March Trip, I will be packing on Friday afternoon and evening before we load the truck and leave at midninght. :rolleyes1
