When do you put in room requests?

We have Pop booked for next August. (I know it's early but wanted to be sure we got the resort of our choice). I've been researching the best building/location to request thanks to great advice on here and social media. Question is...when is the best time to call in to make that request? Is way too earlier to call? Or is it way too early to call and we should wait? And if so, how close to your travel date? (Also hoping some discount will come up for next summer...but not sure we could take advantage of an offer as we're only coming for 3 nights and it's labor day weekend).

We're Canadian which is why it's not so easy to just call (no toll free number) so wondering best time.

There's really not any "too early" that I have experienced, but make sure to do it more than 3 days out from your trip.
The less specific of a request that you make, the better your odds of having it get met are, and even that is not a guarantee.

Or are we better to request a lake view? One of my last requests would be building 2 as it seems far away, but this also seems to have lake view so am thinking lake view request wouldn't be a good to specify (even though it's more general).
PS - Building 4 or 5 lake view is good too....so only one we wouldn't want is building 2.

That location actually looks the best all around. Just questioning if they will re-categorize this section due to Skyliner? Or do you think they'll keep it as standard?

For 2020, they are still Standard. Going forward, who knows.

A great tip I learned on the boards for us Canadians is to download google hangouts on your phone. It’s free calling anywhere through wifi.. I’m sure it has saved me hundreds of dollars!

Google Hangouts is your answer to this! I’m in Canada too and I use this app for all my phone calls to Disney.
Our favourite room location at Pop is 70s lake view. So quiet and still close to the Classic Hall and buses. Happy planning!

We put in our request when we book it. We've never had our request not fulfilled so I'm not sure that timing makes any difference. It depends on availability when you get there and everyone else's request. If it's in the file, timing of when it gets in there shouldn't be relevant.
