When do you pay for the dining plan with a dvc ressie??

I know it has to be booked before the trip, can I call and pay for the dining plan ahead of my trip (in January, woo hoo) or do I wait until I get there. Then is it upon check in, or checkout (finalizing the bill, etc) also I did call to add the dining plan on, is it something I should call to confirm prior to my trip??

You pay for it at check in . The charge didn't actually show up on my card until a couple of days later, but they did charge it that day.

I concur. Same for us. At check-in the CC is charged, and shows up a few days later.

It's paid for by the first person in your party to check in.

That's nice to know if you are traveling with more than just your immediate family.

If the other people are there at check in they can split it and charge two cards though right?

Yes.

Just note it's actually charged and run through at that time, not simply added to your room bill.

We're going to be checking in at BCV at about 11:00am (we know that they won't give us our room until about 4pm). We plan to go to EPCOT to have lunch after we check in. Will we be able to use the dining plan?

I guess you can, as you are paying per night, two or three meals. If you could only used it when your room would be available, you could not take all the meals.

Well, that is what I suppose!!!

Yes you can. Once you check in, even though you may not have an assigned room your key will have dining and park tickets to use (if applicable).

Yes and on check-out day if you still have unused credits on your
card(s) you can still use them up to midnight.

Actually this is one of the best ways to get value from the plan. Check in early (6 am?) even if you can't get your room and use the plan on the day of check out till MN. It actually gives you as many as 4-5 extra meal opportunities over other possibilities.
