When do you pay for DDP?

I was wondering, when do you pay for the DDP? Is it at check-in or check-out? My sister's friend is coming along on our next trip and she wants to know if she should go ahead and give me the cash or wait until we check out. This is the first time we have used the DDP since it has just recently became available for DVC, so I didn't know what to tell her.

I'm pretty sure you pay at check-in

Check in. We just did this last week and immediately had to pay for the DP.

as stated above you pay immediately upon checking in... You can use various forms of payment to pay for it... Ie. we used Cash, Disney Visa rewards points and Disney Visa card to pay for our dining plan.

We got charged on checkin on May 7th.
