Is it when you pay the balance? Ours is due May 25, is it advantageous to pay earlier? Thank you.

When your online checkin window opens. And you are paid in full. Firsttime cruisers window opens 75 days prior to your cruise.

You will check in online when your booking window opens. You have to be paid in full to do this, though the PIF date is at 75 days, so you may need to be paid earlier to get access when your window opens. After you check in online at 3 a.m. ET, you will be able to select a port arrival time from the choices available at that time. This time will generate your boarding number, but you won't get that until after you actually check in at the terminal. No matter when you pay your balance, you won't be able to check in online until your window opens. [120 days platinum, 105 days gold, 90 days silver, 75 days first time cruisers]

When I did my check-in for our last cruise (Oct. 2011) someone told me I only needed to be paid in full to book Excursions/Palo/Remy/Spa/Nursery. Since I wasn't booking any of those they said I could do the online check-in without being paid in full. I had already paid the balance so I don't know if this is true. Anyone know for sure?

We will pay tomorrow.

I plan to be on the phone with DDiL so we can check in and hopefully get the same boarding time. There are 3 cabins total, can DDiL do the check in for both of their cabins? Theirs are connecting.

Each room should have it's own reservation number. Each one must be checked in separately. One person can do them all, as long as they have the reservation number and the birthdate for one of the people in the room.

Ok, thanks.

Does this mean that first time cruisers get late boarding times?

I have heard of some first timers getting earlier port arrival times, but there are a limited number of spots for each time, so I would expect there to be fewer early times left by the the 75 day mark.

Just to clarify you are booking for a "Port Arrival Time". This allows you access to the port if you are driving your own car or taking private transpiration. If you are taking Disney transportation you don't need a port arrival time. Once you arrive at the port at your designated time you will be let into the port terminal and check in. At that time you will be given your boarding number. Your boarding number is connected to your port arrival time so if you show up at the port before your port arrival time and someone comes after you and has an earlier port arrival time they will be given a lower boarding number.
