When do you give up on a waitlist?

We are 49 days out and are STILL waitlisted for either BLT or AKL concierge for Columbus week. Have not booked DME yet. How long or how close to your trip have you waited to cancel the waitlist?

Good luck on your wait list. You can have it set up until 7 days prior to your trip. If you book DME for one location and then your wait list comes through, they will change your DME reservation to match the new destination.

Do you have backup plans? AKL concierge is so limited and BLT is so popular right now, so I'm not sure if I'd count on the waitlist for either resort. That said, I never give up!---Kathy

I'm about 43 days out and still waiting not-so-patiently. I'm at one resort, waitlisted for another 10/2. I'll give up about a week in advance. Just so you know, I already booked DME and asked them about what to do if my WL came thru. They just said to tell them at the airport and take a black magic marker and change the resort destination on the yellow luggage tags.

BTW, I used to have relatives in Millbury-my family's all from the Worcester area.

Wow. I grew up here in Millbury and love raising our kids here. We do have solid reservation at SSR. That will be fine but are only travelling with a total of 4 rather than 5 this trip. Grandma is taking a cruise instead of Disney this year. We wanted something special. I know both are limited but it is worth trying. We would have loved BWV or BCV but with FW fest those are impossible. I am impatient and want it soooo much. We will wait it out. Who knows... maybe a little Pixie Dust will come our way.

I'm on a wait list for Oct until 7 days before arrival. I plan on calling everyday after until the day we leave. I'm starting to think it won't come thru, but you never know..........
We are hoping for a 2 bedroom at BCV or BWV for 10/14 - 10/21.
Yeah...I know, not easy.

I keep it to the 7 days out if I really want it. Sometimes, I give it up before then because I just want to be settled and know where I'll be. The one that I have now I will keep to the 7 days out, it's for a BLT studio in December. If I get it, and find the studio stay isn't as bad as I think it may be, I'm willing to add on some BLT points so I can get one right at 11 months, and not have to do the waitlist.

The studio I have for that time is at AKV, Jambo! My DGF hasn't stayed in either place. When she was last in Orlando, they stayed off site with her family, including DGC. She and I haven't ever vacationed together when it's been just the 2 of us. I'm so looking forward to friendly chats with her, and either place will be perfect!

Currently waitlisting BLT for Mardi Gras.. we have VWL reserved which would be just fine to "settle for"..win, win situation!

I'm quickly starting to lose hope. We are wait listed for VWL and BWV for 10/2-10/5 and have been since mid-June. We are now getting awfully close to the 30 day window. If we pass that, I don't think there will be much chance of getting either one. I just called MS and was hoping to get one of the "you just matched your wait list" messages you sometimes hear abou, but sadly, that wasn't the case.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I'll mention it here too. My waitlist FINALLY came thru a couple days ago. However, when I called to double-check on it and a few other things, I learned that it had not been linked to the rest of my reservation. So although I was now not changing resorts, I might have still had to pack up, check out and check back in again. So it might be a good idea, even if your waitlist comes thru, to call MS to be sure it gets linked.

What kind of room are you waitlisted for at BLT? You have better odds for a lake view than standard or magic kingdom although anything's possible. There are only 14 standard view studios so the odds of that coming through for a full week is highly unlikely.

That said, if I'm going anyway, I've kept my waitlist out until 7 days before. Also, one time my waitlist never came through but when I arrived at the resort (to check in to my Jambo Studio) it was available (1br at Kidani) and I was able to switch, that was a VERY pleasant surprise.

Just watch out if the waitlist is less points than your current ressie, I believe those "saved" pts will go into holding period.

We are wait listed for both BLT-MK view and AKV-CL. We already have rooms in those resorts and just wait listed "upgrades". A 1Br Savannah view at AKV is going to be wonderful. A Club level room would be good too. And a MK view would be "BONUS" to the Lake view at BLT.

so far all of my waitlist are in except for one night but it is all in the same resort... 6 days at AKLStd... waitlist for the 7th night but a shoe in for AKLSavanah and then 4 nights back to AKL Std.... Hopefully if the waitlist does not come through they let me elave my luggage in the hall way..LOL j/k

I give up just as I am walking out the door to go to the airport.
The last trip we took we were waitlist for VWL. After the waitlist expired, I called everyday twice a day once in the morning once in the afternoon. Wouldn't you know it the day before we left I happened to call late in the afternoon and got my our waitlist wish.

DH and I are going to WDW Oct 18th - 23rd. The first 3 nights we are staying at Kidani, standard view, the last 2 night we are staying at SSR. We are wait listed for 2 things, all 5 nights at Kidani Savannah view and also the last 2 nights standard view at Kidani!

The MS CM I spoke to told put the waitlist until 7 days out and told me to keep calling to check. I've called every 3 days or so since I changed to the 3 days at Kidani from our original 5 nights at SSR.

I'll keep calling and checking right up until the end!

We have a reservation for 8 days at BLT in December and are on the wait-list for a upgraded view at the BLT.

The MS told me that if the wait-list came through, that I would be notified, but I was wondering is there some way to view my current wait-list, or do I have to call MS for an update.
