So we were at the parks for two weeks in june and this past week I have been hit with the return bug. I am having visions of all my former trips, FW and resorts. I had to listen to pandora disney today... belting be our guest, do you want to build a snowman and others....

I even took a look at memory lane with pics... I haven't started planning fake trips but the thought has cross my mind. I am trying to plan another persons trip... he just wants to go to disneyland.... Dude what are you thinking - Disney world all the way

When do you get hit with the revisit bug..

Now I am in MT, 2700 miles away for FW... that's such a bummer.... thats a 4-5 day drive....

Before I get home with the camper after leaving Disney. I do get some mild relief when I get to help other people plan their trips.

I guess I'm a little different. We try to go for a long week. Arrive Friday and leave the Sunday 9 days later.

We go pretty hard for the days we are there and do most everything we wanted. So we get our "fix" in pretty well.

It is generally about this time of year that I start to get the urge to go back. Race season has wound down and I start looking for vacation options for next summer. We really like the beach too and typically alternate a beach trip and Disney for summer vacations.

The blasted PS&D teasers I keep getting right now are almost getting me to consider a winter trip. All 3 of us at a Value with dining for $2K. Unfortunately I'd have to pull my DS out of school. In high school that is a bigger deal and my DW keeps reminding me we haven't paid off the new kitchen yet.

So I'll keep reading DIS and living through those of you going down this winter.

Racing season for EV around here wraps up thanksgiving weekend and we are back at it the last weekend of March. So January is the perfect time for us to make our 2 week FL trip. We have two events left (no VIR 13 hour this year since the race team I used to DTR and crew for decided not to run this year.)

But already the excitement is building as we start planning for our trip.

We wrapped up the season 2 weeks ago at Topeka. First race is usually the end of March, so winter would be perfect for a Fort trip except for DS' school. My DW doesn't like going down in Jan/Feb/March because of the weather. We have been down twice over Valentine's Day and last year in March for Spring Break. 2 of the 3 trips it was pretty cool and DW and I really hate cold weather. WDW doesn't seem as fun when you are bundled up.

Good news/bad news is I have decided to hang up the racing helmet. I had a remarkable season. Surreal actually. I was undefeated until July. I lost a race in Colorado by 0.2 seconds (1/2 car length). Came back on Sunday and won by 6 seconds. The second half of the season had a wreck at Road America that caused me to miss a couple of race weekends, but overall, it was a magical year.

It seemed like a good time to step away. The team owner's 2 kids are both 16 now and would be in driving school next year. That meant adding a 4th car for the team and the logistics for all that was getting crazy. 3 cars was bad enough, so I decided to step away and go out after a season that I know I would never repeat.

Now that I have all this extra time, I keep looking for more opportunities to go camping and slot in another trip to the Fort. Unfortunately work, school and not enough money keep getting in the way.

The last time I was there was in 2003....and since having a family of my own since then, I plan trips in my head all the time (ok and maybe on paper from time to time). Logically, we are just too far away to haul our camper (northern North Dakota) with a 5 month old and a 3 year old. Hoping maybe the military moving gods will bring us closer though in the coming year :thumbsup2

If nothing, grandma has promised the two oldest grandsons that the families will get a trip before they enter kindergarten in 2017. So with any luck, the longest I have to wait is another 2 years. :cheer2:

The time we go its usually low to mid 60s average. Sometimes warmer, sometimes cooler. But considering it was 5F and -10 Windchill last January when we left and 55-65F highs the entire time we where there. Since there is no school age that makes it easier for us to go at odd times. But that may be changing for me since the woman I am dating has two kids. I can deal and adjust no problem.

I took a break the past few years myself, but now looking to freshen up the car and get back out there. At least at summit point, and maybe a seat in an enduro. But thats about it for me. I will stay involved through emergency services for the most part.

It never leaves me!
That's why I'm on DIS. Although I'm not sure if this place helps with a "mini-fix" or just makes it worse. :confused3

Last year the highs were in the 60's. Mornings were in the 40's. That is much better than the 20-30s it was at home. Maybe it's because we always went in the summer before and it just doesn't seem like Disney World unless it is 95. :)
And I'm keeping my Comp License up to date. I still have lots of friends racing and you never know when an enduro seat will come up or someone 'needs' a fill in driver for a weekend.

I will have in mind a future trip when on a current trip. Of course not all trips are the same. When just DW, DD13, DD13 and myself we can go on a realm. Planning my 2016 trip with 12 people ranging from 2 to myself 50. A little bit more planning is required.

I had to chuckle when I read the title.

Why?

As we were pulling out of the campsite this past April, I asked my wife, daughter(18) & son(15) when do we comeback?

As the last two trips to the Fort have been our childrens Senior Year, I anticipate returning April 2017, but who knows? If I could leave right now, I would.

Talk about planning.... besides April 2017, If my wife and I don't return that October, no matter what we are going in October 2018. Then, December 2019.

Now if all goes well, by 2021, I hope to be working there.

All the time. Except when I'm actually there!

My big retirement plan, like many others, is to work there. Maybe then I'll finally get rid of the bug! :rotfl2:
