When do you add points???

Adding on points before other contracts are paid off?

  • I have added points before other contract(s) paid off

  • I have only added points after contract(s) paid off

  • I haven't added points and wouldn't until contract(s) paid off

  • I haven't added points but would before contract(s) paid off

With all the posts I see about adding points, I had to know - are you adding points while still paying for original contract(s) or only after they're all paid off? :confused3

We're still paying for our first contract but have periodic addonitis which we've resisted. :rolleyes1 (Don't turn this into a debate about whether loans are ok for dvc... :scared: )

Just curious...

Initially I added points so quickly, that I hadn't yet recieved my packet from DVC before I wanted more. Several times my guide said "Just ignore the packet when you get it, and I'll send another for more points." :drinking:

Added on and paid that add on in full, :rolleyes1 though I financed my first contract for 10 years. I keep meaning to accelearate that one, but between the auto deducted payment and all the things that come up with two kids it just has not happened.

Ummm... our first add on happened before we closed on our original purchase...

Add points when you get a deal.

We added points at VWL almost immediately, certainly within 2 weeks of our original BWV contract. (And then 3 more times and we've been members for almost exactly 2 years.)

We have added on 4 times, and have always paid cash for all our points. Even the original OKW deal back in '93. But if I could do it over, I would have picked up 5 300 points deals in '93. Oh well, live and learn.

we sent our add on paperwork in about 2 weeks before we paid off our original contract.

Our original contract was for 175 points and we did the 1 year payment option. We ended up paying it in full about 3-4 months early and we financed the add-on.

I bought 150 points in Dec and 50 more in June. Dumb, because I didn't save any $$ on the 50, but at least I got them before the point increase. I paid the add-on in full. Just should've got 200 to begin with :sad2:

we add anytime we sense we are getting a great deal..........sept 11 created quite a lowpoint for point prices and we did take advantage of it..........right now disney is white hot so i think its now a sellers market

We added on to celebrate DH's new job. The first loan isn't paid off yet, but my car almost is. We bought the first points right after we paid off DH's car. The rule now is nobody gets a new car until the points are paid off. Notice how there is NO rule about waiting to buy more points. I just have to make my Honda last forever. :rotfl:

I checked the first box "added before first paid off" BUT that may be misleading because we added on after signing the papers but before the first contract closed!

We added points even before we were able to use our first set. We think we got a good deal and we got the 100 extra points for the year.

Ditto for us. Man, those kids....can't live without 'em...can't live without 'em. :love1:

Does anyone find it funny that more say they won't buy more points until contract is paid off, but more people actually do!

How come there are no choices for "monthly," "quarterly," etc? Addonitis is one of the most virulent diseases known to man! :maleficen

I was stupid and got in over my head.
Really wanted Boardwalk but it was sold out. Only had Wilderness Lodge so I bought 150 point there financed for 5 years. Then I told my guide to put me on the wait list at Boardwalk. Less then a month later he called with 100 points there. Of course I said yes another 5 year loan. Then he called a month after that with another 150 points. This one I did a 7 year loan and of course I said yes. Then came Beach Club and a 10 year loan with 170 points different use year 6 months later so I could make my reservations anytime of years. So of course I had to even it out and added another 30 points (cash this time) at the Bwv so I had an even 600 points... Well with all my fees and loans I was paying over $800 a month now and slowing going into debt ... STUPID STUPID STUPID. So I finally realized how stupid I was being.... And since my children really only like to stay at the Boardwalk I sold off my 150 points at Wilderness lodge and 170 points at Beach Club even though I loved them both dearly and only kept the 280 points at the Boardwalk.... With the money I made from those 2 sales ( I was a Cast Member at the time and got a 15% discount plus the $10 buyback for the first years points) I paid off the other 2 loans and now am finally debt free. If I ever add on again it will only be cash this time... I have promised myself I will only add on if they build a DVC at Disneyland and then it will only be small contacts and cash only..... I never knew DVC could be so addictive but it sure was for me just can't say no to my guide.... Guess I need a 12 step program for DVC buying
