when do waitlists come through?

I know this is like predicting the weather a month in advance, but we have two waitlists in November; both are for 1 night. We are staying AKV in a GV for 4 nights and then BCV for 5 nights. We are trying to get out of the 4th night at AKV b/c most of our party is leaving and we don't need all that room (or want to blow all those points), so we waitlisted for BCV to check in a night early (Monday night). Also, the last night (Saturday night) we currently have a dedicated 2 BR with 2 beds, but our prior 4 nights are in a 2 BR with bed/sleeper sofa. So we are looking at having to move down the hall for the last night. Not the end of the world, but a bit of a pain nonetheless.

If I had to pick, I'd really like the first night to come through. This would save us about 40 points.

My question is, when do waitlists usually come through? Closer to the travel time, or far in advance as people switch resorts or cancel? In anybody's experience, is there any pattern to speak of? I know this is a hard question to answer, but figured I'd ask b/c we'd really like to switch out of the GV one night early and save those points, AND we'd really like to not have to move rooms on our last night. I know two waitlists are a lot to ask for, but at least they're both for one night....

Thanks for any insights anybody might have.

I have read that movement can happen around the 31 day mark when people have to either cancel or risk holding points.

Good luck and here is pixiedust: that both come through!!!

Anytime is the real answer.

There may be some increased likelihood at the 7 month window from people looking to move from their home resort to another resort - but that's not likely with BCV. There may also be a bump at the 30 day mark as people who were tentative have to cancel by then to avoid their points going into a holding account.

While they can come through at any time, during Food & Wine in the fall some waitlists never materialize. So concentrate on having a good time, not on where you stay.

A lot of waitlists come through at 6 1/2 months, when members that have reservations at their home resort switch to another resort. Then at day 31 because of cancellations, another large amount of WLs come through. But a WL can happen at anytime.

My main concern when I have a WL that gives us more points is whether I can still bank the extra points or will I have a short deadline in which to use them.

we just got our wait list for a theme park view at BLT for new years eve 2 days ago...wait listed 4 times and this is the first one that came thru for us.

Our Waitlists are not during food and wine. F&W ends on the 13th, I believe. Our WL's are for the nights of the 14th and 19th. I'm sure we'll have a good time, the WL's coming through would just be the icing on the cake.

This is exactly why we picked an April UY! Our work schedules sort of make the fall the easiest time for us to travel, so if we get the points back we will be able to bank them into 2012. Trust me, I made sure to double check this with MS!

one of my waitlists came through a couple of weeks later.

one came through about 5 and a half months later (about 1 and a half months from the trip).

one never came through.

IF mine have come through, it was closer to when I made it, not close to the time of the reservation itself. I'm hoping for one of those "dedicated 2 bedrooms with 2 queens" at BCV...we're near the 7 day mark, so I'll be calling all next week to see if anyone will be cancelling that reservation!

What's funny is that I have a dedicated 2 BR with 2 Queens for our last night (11/19), but am trying to get OUT of it! We have a 2 BR with 1 Queen/1 Sleeper Sofa for the prior 4 nights, and I would hate to have to move for that one night. The only saving grace, as my wife pointed out, is that it's our last night so we theoretically would have to pack all our stuff anyway. We'll just have to pack, move down the hall and leave everything packed for our flight in the morning. It's going to be a bit weird packing up and then moving to another room just to sleep....but not the end of the world.

It really can come through at any time, or not at all. I had a Spring waitlist for BCV that never came through, but yesterday I just had December waitlist for 5 days at BCV come through. So, you never know. I think it's just luck.

October waitlist came through today!!! I'm so excited. I did have a 1BR at Jambo House, but now have Kidani. I have 2 long-shower-taking teenagers in the family, so that 2nd bathroom was a real necessity!!!

Our waitlist for this past June for an additional 1 night in a 1bd lv BLT never came thru so we were going to have to switch to a studio. At check in I asked to see if the 1 bd was available for that last night, front desk said "yes it was" but when they called MS to get the points, MS told us "no it wasn't".:headache:
With 2 days before the move to a studio, I called MS again @ 2 days out & was able to get that additional night in the 1bd lv BLT. :confused3

Our wait list for BLT lakeview came in today, right at our 30 day mark. We were at VWL, but really wanted BLT or BWV. I checked our account online everyday and was starting to think it wasn't going to happen. We have had very good luck with wait listing!
