I've seen conflicting info. Disney website has just a little note that it starts October 1, 2010 but someone posted that they talked to a CM today and were told September 24th, 2010. I assumed it would be the 24th b/c this year it was the 25th, my husband is going to be crushed if it doesn't open until the 1st, we leave on the 2nd! Ack.

I think it's probably October 1st, since that's a Friday. Disney tries to schedule it the final weekend in September, but I think being that September 30th is a Thursday, they just pushed it to October 1st.

On the last page of this year's festival brochure, it gives the 2010 dates as Sept 24-Nov 7. Given that, it's rather puzzling that Disney's website now says October 1. I wonder if they're trying to change the dates.

The website does look like they are changing the dates. Dates printed in this year's brochure were 9/24 - 11/7/10. However, a visit to www.disneyworld.com/foodandwine says, "Celebrating Culinary Adventures from October 1 -- November 14, 2010 so it looks like it's not just starting a week later, but is also finishing a week later. BriarRosie -- looks like you'll be able to go to food and wine for your birthday once again.

Originally, the Festival was mid-October to mid-November. We've often stayed until the last day, which has been November 15 or 16.

A few years ago they increased it from four weeks to six and started about October 1. With the calendar, it was moving into the last part of September. I'm not surprised they are pushing it forward to Oct 1 in 2010, rather than have it keep slipping back into Sept.

Sept. is usually too hot to enjoy World Showcase and the kiosks.

I agree-especially in these economic times, it makes sense to shorten up the festival. I just wish they hadn't published the dates as if they were definite-maybe if they'd put a little parentheses, like "these dates tentative".
