I still cannot decide when to hit disneyland this year with my family. I was contemplating going Dec 17-21, a Sun-Thur. Would I be nuts considering this??? I have several other dates available as well, but this time is actually the cheapest, which surprised me. I would love everyone's opinion. It would be my dd(2), ds(7) and my dh and a I. For those of you who have gone during the holidays, will it be a zoo during this time, or will it be busier the following weekend and week? I know no one knows for sure, but I just don't want to be absolutely miserable the whole time.

Any info is appreciated,
Kathy

As far at the month of Dec goes, that is probably a good time to go. Earlier in the month you have the candelight processional (usually the first weekend). And after that weekend you are looking at you have the Christmas crowds. Things typically pick up around Christmas Eve, and are pretty busy until after the New Year. This year, I would guess the crowds will pick up around Friday Dec. 22, and go strong until Jan. 2.

Many of the local school districts will be on Winter Break that week. We are. That might lead to bigger crowds versus earlier in the month.

I heard on another forum that Anaheim school district doesn't get out until the 22nd for Christmas vacation, so I was hoping that maybe it wouldn't be too busy earlier in the week on the 17,18 and 19th. Any one else have any info on when the schools will be out or when the crowds get too crazy?

The Anaheim school district does not have the schedule for next year online yet. For 2005 they started Christmas break on Dec 22. I would guess it could start a few days earlier this year. However, S. CA passes are blocked out starting Dec. 16, which will cut down on how many of the locals are at the parks. Deluxe AP's are blocked starting Dec. 23 until after the new year.

Last year we were at Disneyland Dec. 6 - 10. The first few days were okay, heavier crowds than the year before, but by the 8 - 10 the crowds were so heavy that they actually closed the park for a few hours in the afternoon. We had gone the year before and there were no crowds at all, the 50th Anniversary hype really helped to boost attendance!

We are also considering going this Dec., looking at the 13 - 16. I was also wondering if the park would be as crazy as last year, or if it would be a little quieter since the 50th is over. Anyone willing to play psychic? :confused3

We were there last Christmas. It was not bad until the 23rd. Christmas Eve day was horrible and we did not even try to go on Christmas.
