When do recruiters call your school to verify that you are a student ?

Okay so I have a dilemma . I am going to find out sometime next week whether or not I am accepted into an online college I applied to after being out of college for a semester . The summer alumni program applications drop February 6th . I'm just wondering if anyone knows what step in the process recruiters call to verify that you are a student ? Do you think they check early on in the process or later ? If I get in I would be enrolled the same week applications go out . Just a few days after I apply .

It is my understanding that college is not verified until a student is selected for the program.
