When do our DDP credits become "active?"

Hi everyone,

On an upcoming trip, we'll arrive to Orlando at around 7:00am and have an early breakfast reservation in the parks.

If we already have our MagicBands, can we go right to the breakfast and use our DDP credits?

IOW, will the credits be "active" without us going to check in to our hotel?

When I looked into this for a previous trip, you have to check into your hotel first to use DDP credits.

I believe I read somewhere on these boards that doing online check-in ahead of time will allow your tickets and dining plan credits to be active when you arrive. You have to note that you will be arriving early in the morning.

If I have the incorrect info, someone please let me know
