When do Membership Extras for 2018 get announced?

We are planning to take a trip in Feb 2018, and I am wondering when next years Membership extra benefits get announced? I am very flexible on when we go (it doesn't even have to be Feb) and I would like to plan around an event such as the Moonlight Magic evening if it's offered. Anyone know when these were announced last year? Thank you!

We don't even know if there will be any Membership Events next year. We'll just have to wait and see.

Agree with @CarolMN above, although my answer would have been "When Disney gets good and ready". We've been members since 1995 and there is no discernible pattern to DVC's announcements on this.

The pattern is no pattern. Disney/DVD/DVC has some reason for why they don't announce events in advance so qualified owners can plan ahead.

I assumed these current member perks were part of the 25th anniversary. As this is the only time I recall such perks in the 24 years we have been members.

The member magic perks and restriction of resale buyers are the brain child of the Ken Potrock, the newest DVD/DVC executive.

It seems easier to plan around a possible Membership extra event if you travel later in the year (such as Sept-Dec). Unfortunately we usually go in February, so by the time anything gets announced it will be too late.

Except booking from mid-Sept through the marathon in January will be harder at seven months out. They might announce events, but no dates until closer to the date. Even then, they might change the date.

When you book DVC you also enter two lotteries. The first decides if they will put a special event for your dates. The second if availability is big enough to allow you to book it.
Until now I successfully got only the Soaring tour, but never "won" the lottery for an after hours party. I'm planning a vacation in September 2018, a month when a party has been scheduled for the last two years so I could be lucky, but I haven't chosen the period for that reason: I'll be happy if it happens, happy anyway if it doesn't.

I find the membership magic promotions get released AFTER I've already booked my rooms for that year. Last year I took 5 trips to WDW with most of them 7-14 nights. None during holidays. Not one of our dates fell during any of the moonlight events....I guess I had the worse timing....nope, the same thing happened for this year too. But we booked a short trip for next week...just 3 days to do the typhoon event. So for next years events, I've already booked my trips, so the following dates probably won't be included. Unless your local or get very lucky, these Moonlight Magic events are nothing but new timeshare PR, which is what they actually are.

I think they gave us ample time for the September and December upcoming events. I was lucky enough for the Typhoon Lagoon event last week. It was so much fun, I may just book a June/July week and hope! Those fireworks last week were awesome!
