I feel like I should know this, but i just can't seem to recall... And since we suddenly seem to be going to Disney World in January, I'm wondering if we'll see the decorations. TIA

They generally come down immediately after New Year. Seems to me they were almost finished taking down the Osborne Lights on the 3rd when I was there one January. Everything else was already gone.

It seems things came down a little at a time. The parks were first and resorts later. We stayed at POFQ and the decorations were up the majority of our trip and we were there from the 3-13. We were able to see the Osbourne lights during our trip (of course, they won't be there in 04) and enjoyed the big tree the the Grand Floridian. The park decorations were only there a couple days of our trip though. Dawn

Holiday decorations are usually taken down by the end of the Sunday following New Years. So, this coming year would be the 4th of January. That doesn't mean there won't be some decorations hanging around after that date. You never know!

We were there the 4th three years ago and I don't recall seeing any decorations then. We arrived the Sixth this year and the christmas trees were still up and various decorations were up, but it appeared that most were down.

They took down the decorations at the Boardwalk Villas on the night of January 13, 2003...

the decor through the parks doesn't come down all at once, there is just so much of it.

When we arrived Jan 11th, I asked specifically which areas of DW still had the holiday decorations up so that we could go take pictures before the changes took place. It was quite a riot to see the areas transform literally overnight........

If you want to see my photos of them taking down the decorations at the Boardwalk, PM me and I will give you the link. I stayed up half the night just to watch them work, and work hard, I might add. :p

I've gone to WDW the very beginning of January the last 3 years, and it really seems to vary. One year, as I commented, the trees at POR and POFQ were still up when I checked out on 1/8. As CMs said, "We're running late this year". But if there's something you really want to see, see it ASAP. Once I went to Epcot the day I checked in, 1/2, and saw the tall tree, winter arch. Went back 2 days later and everything was removed.

Thanks for the info, everyone! It'll be interesting to see what's still up when we go. Who knows when I'll ahve a chance to go actually during the holidays, so this is the next best thing.
