When do decorations come down and crowd forcast???

We were looking at maybe doing a few days at the beginning if January and I've never been during this time of year. Does anyone know when they take down Christmas decorations at parks and resorts? Also how are the crowds? Thanks!

We were there in 2010 and I think it was around the 4th that most were gone. The crowds really dropped off after the last weekend after new years, so this year from the 5th on or so it should be getting quieter

Darn I was hoping the decorations might be up a bit longer but good to know that that crowds die down. I saw pictures or Christmas last year and I just don't think I could do it!!! Love disney, hate crowds!

Don't forget about the Disney Marathon. I think the first race starts on Thursday, Jan 8 and goes through Sunday, Jan 11. It makes it hard to get a villa, but the parks aren't all that busy (except from 5AM until about noon or so).

If you are talking about January 2015, you better find out immediately what is available and book what, if anything, is available. Usually resort decorations come down between the third and fourth or fourth and fifth of Jan (they are taken down overnight). Park decorations last a little longer and lately have been defined by the last night for Osbourne Lights at Studios, which runs until Jan 5 2015 and thus they will start taking park decorations down after the parks close Jan 5 and those take a few days before they disappear entirely.

As to crowds, since Jan 1, 2015, is Thursday, you will have Christmas like crowds until Sunday, Jan 4, when they will start to decrease and will become more January like by Tuesday. The marathon "weekend" then begins on Wednesday, Jan 7, and park crowds will be somewhat larger that Friday and Sat but still manageable.
