When did you stop doing Easter Baskets?

I think my kids' Easter baskets are the kinds of things I'll keep forever. I just have a hard time getting rid of stuff like that.

If they don't want their baskets after they're grown & on their own or to pass down to their own children, their baskets will become part of our Easter decor.

Dd is 18, I haven't stopped yet. But it hasn't been an overflowing of candy once she got into the teens.

This year will be dgd first Easter to hunt for Easter eggs etc. But her basket no candy but other stuff and I am re furnishing a cozy coupe and hope she likes it.

We are moving next month. Your post gave me a great idea. I will pitch the baskets when packing. So this Easter will be the last.

Just a word of warning. I did ask today if they wanted Easter Baskets. They said no, but they would take the candy and maybe a game for their game system.

Ha ha. That sounds like mine too. Don't need a basket but want the candy and gift cards.

We don't do Easter baskets in the UK- we buy boxed big Easter eggs and hide them in the garden to find on Easter morning. I don't really see it as being an age thing- my parents still give me an egg and this year I bought some for them too. We don't celebrate Easter in the religious sense though, only as a fun tradition.

my mother still does easter baskets. I'm 39. every year i tell her not to and every year it's there when i get to easter dinner.

Actual baskets? Around the time they give up believing in the Easter Bunny.. A package of goodies for Easter? Forever. I give an Easter goody bag to each of my children AND my DH every year; favorite candies and a fun trinket or two. (Lately I always include a new charging cord in the stash.) DS is away at school for Easter this year, his "basket" will be delivered by Amazon.

We stopped at about 12. Gifts aren't really my love language, nor are they important to my kids. We are church musicians so Easter is BIG at our house, but no baskets. I do buy candy for a candy dish in the center of the table, but that's it. My kids would be totally up for it if we gave them CASH, but gifts? Eh.

Is there anything inside of these big Easter eggs?

I just want to thank the Op for starting this thread!

I love reading what other people do for holidays and what traditions they have. Thanks to everybody for sharing!

Sometime in high school. The last year, I had them choose basket or egg hunt - they choose egg hunt.

Christmas stockings seem to last a few years longer.

Stop?

I still do something small for DD23 and DH. We are not huge candy fans in our house, so years ago the bunny started bringing nicer, but less, candy. Usually imported dark chocolate of some kind, or maybe a few handmade chocolates from the local confectionery. DH also enjoys jelly beans and gum drops. DD enjoys a Dunkin Donuts card. Both she and her boyfriend will also get a Reese's peanut butter egg or two.

Really haven't read the whole thread but to answer your question, OP.......when you want to. :flower1:

(I know that's not exactly what you asked but probably most people stopped when they wanted to......or not. ;) )

The eggs are hollow, made of chocolate and wrapped in foil- sometimes they have extra chocolates inside but they are often empty. Easter in the U.K. is all about chocolate strangely... we don't give away whole baskets of goodies! The Easter bunny hides chocolate eggs in the garden (usually in plastic bags given the amount of rain here!!) and each person has to find theirs. We also boil real eggs and paint/ decorate them, and have egg races where you roll them down the hill.

This is what ours look like:

Those look yummy!!

This year. Both kids (19 and 17) are not interested in sweets or treats (wish I was more like them...). I asked them if they wanted anything for Easter since I've always given them something before, and DD said a new workout outfit and DS said new shoes, so I treated them to those, and we're just having a nice sit-down breakfast on Easter. I think after this year I'll pass on gifts altogether.

My kids teased me about making Easter Baskets (they are married) so last year, I stopped.
My son looked so disappointed when he came for Easter dinner and realized I did not make baskets!
This year, I got each couple chocolate bunnies and a few of their favorite Easter treats.

My mom did this and bought me a white chocolate (my fav) bunny and a few small things for years after I had stopped getting Easter baskets. I think she stopped giving me my bunny on my son's first Easter bc she was too busy buying little things for him!

My boys are 6 and 8 and still believers. I just dropped more money than I care to admit on Easter candy and one plush toy each. We are actually going to be in Florida on vacation during Easter so we stopped by the mall and told the bunny so he knows to come early!
