When did you know you converted your significant other?

My DBF of three years has been to disney once with his family... Needless to say he only went on like two rides at the magic kingdom, arrived at the parks mid afternoon, didnt go to DTD.. barely did anything!!

Im hoping once we go together next week that I will convert him! lol :teeth: :thumbsup2

Several weeks after we returned home this past June, from our 3rd trip, and my wife began discussing how she wanted to go back to Beach Club gave me my first hint. Then when I began looking at prices for a trip the weekend before Thanksgiving and she just looked at me and said "Why are you tempting me?", I knew she was hooked.

I was the one converted. DW had a convention at the Swan (or was it the Dolphin? It doesn't really matter.) I had been 4 times as a kid, even there for the first year. We all were looking forward to the trip and sharing Disney with the three kids and MIL. DW got hooked planning for that trip, I was still of the mindset, we'll just figure it out.

After that successful week of planned and organized fun, I repented of my non planning, non obsessed ways and now fully plan, buy extra large zip-lock bags and "monitor" the boards for new details (or that's what I tell my wife).

Needless to say, we thought we would go a couple of times for the kids as they were growing up, but we are now planning our fourth trip as family and next December we are taking my parents and three brothers and their children for Christmas.

It truly is a magical place!

Tink, that is the most adorable story I have ever heard. Does he have a brother?

LOL.. aww thanks! And he does have a brother... But hes more of a USO/IOA kinda guy... maybe we'll work on converting him next! ;)

I knew DH had been converted when he was the one to suggest a trip instead of me! :cool1:

I knew my DH was converted because when I started talking about taking another trip to WDW - I said I'd go with my sister(like I'd done a couple of times) or mother or find someone to go with as I thought I'd Disney'd him out and he said I could never go back without him! YIPPEE! I knew I had him hooked.

I knew my Husband was converted when on our 2nd trip to WDW in 2001 he was wanting to get his picture taken with characters and agreed to go on the Keys to the Kingdom tour with me.

If I am being honest I think the food has something to do with it!! :thumbsup2

I am still waiting. We went in 1997 when it was just DH and I and it was his first time. We stayed for a week (off site, never again) and he deemed the experience just OK. :guilty:

We are going now in December with our 3 kids, their first time, and he wants to be anywhere else in the world that week except Disney. He is not looking forward to it on iota. I am hoping with my TGM knowledge and a huge helping of pixie dust we can convert this man! pixiedust:

He is now sitting next to me reading the new passporter book that arrived few days ago, and not just looking at the pictures. :lmao:

I had an inkling that I had DH hooked after we went on our honeymoon. It was easy to talk him into going again the next summer. But the moment I knew I had him hooked was when we returned from that trip in July I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday in August and .... He said he wanted to go back to WDW! :cool1: Now all I have to do is tell him how we plan to pay for the trip and off we go!

I knew my Dh was officially hooked this summer...we went to Gatlinburg for vacation, had a great time, but in every restaurant Dh said, "It's not as good as Ohana's!" While we were in Dollywood, almost every sentence he said started with," In Disney World...." And at our hotel, we would notice small things, like a cracked tile, dust on the mirror, and our running joke was, "You'd never see that in Disney World!" Needeless to say, as soon as we returned I booked our Feb. 2007 trip! First time at Poly & GF!!! WooHoo!

When df suggested the next trip, I thought we would go once every few years and only as a 'favour' to me but after df first trip last Aug we had our next one booked a week after we got home!

When or how did you know when your significant other converted?

Never have, never will and I'm very jealous of the rest of you!

I knew it when he said " Hey why don't we go back to WDW after the cruise too.'' We have to wait a year for this trip. I am still so surprised when he said that to me.

Great idea for a thread!!

I think my DP was converted as soon as we landed! He hated the idea of everything being man made, thought it would be fake, OTT and hideous... But he loved it and we're going back again in a month!

Even better was his Dad (my FIL) who said 2 years ago "You'll never get me in Disney!!" and yet he can't get enough of it now, he's even dressed up a teddy bear in Mickey Mouse gear and souvenirs to take on holiday and show off at the airport :lmao:

When we got home from his first trip and he started trying to convince his mother to go on a trip with us. She has never been and doesn't get why and he keeps telling her you can't describe Disney to someone who has never been. You have to see it for yourself. He is so upset he hasn't been successful in convincing her. He hates that she may never see Disney in her lifetime.

Further confirmation of his conversion was when we were looking into buying into DVC. We were looking at a 230 point contract at OKW and he asked me if I thought that would be enough points.

There was no converting necessary :) DW and I grew up with Disney and loved it always. We saw Alice In Wonderland on our honeymoon, and 3 years later we moved to Florida and started making regular trips to WDW. :earsboy:

My BF has gotten over Disney like 5 years ago and stopped going with me. I'd go yearly in the meantime with my DD and various tagalongs. He spontaneously decided to join us in January for my DD 18th birthday trip and discovered...pin trading!! He converted his 3 day pass into a Seasonal and we're going back on the 18th staying at Coronado Springs for the first time (it helped that he's always like that resort) but I knew his FULL CONVERSION had occurred when he changed his pinpics screen name from alram14u (the one I created to keep track of the pins we got for him) to Mr_Incredible and not a day goes by that he doesn't send/get trade offers!

UGH.. I still havent converted DF yet.. He dislikes WDW.. I dont know why.. He has this thing about Chip and Dale.. :rotfl2: However that being said, I was to go on a solo trip to WDW (and was sooooo looking forward to it) over Labor Day weekend and he wants to go.. Now he says that he wants to go because he wants to spend time with me as he doesnt feel we get to spend time together too much any more.. but I chose to believe that he really just wants to go see Chip and Dale :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I say "Whatever works!"

We were given a free trip in May of 2000 complete with Parkhoppers and free dining (long and cool story) and hubby was hooked!!! I think because we weren't paying for it that he allowed himself to enjoy it. The conversion was complete when on one of our "off-park" days he said to me "We need to infuse some Disney into our day--do you want to go to DTD or go mini-golfing there?" I still laugh at the phrase "infuse some Disney" and we often use it now to tease him. :rotfl2:
