When did you go for your Planning Session

My next step with Disney is to book my planning session. I have requested a menu tasting as well and that it could be done on Friday so that I could save as much vacay time for the wedding. My planner said all of this is fine but said I can schedule in January, February, or March. I was confused because I thought they were done at max 6 months out?

Part of my job is to plan corporate meetings & we have a board meeting scheduled 2/18-2/19, so I would prefer to do the PS after that, but then it's Premium season. Also, I think we would like to do Pirate & Princess party since we have never been to a hard ticket event.

We would like to try and do this as cheap as possible! Should I go far out and do it first thing in January? Or do it after the Meeting?

My planner asked for 3 possible dates, Any advice?

I did mine in June which was 8 months out from my wedding. I already had a vacation scheduled at that time in Disney so I asked if I could do my session then and they had no problem with it.

we were around 7 months out when we had our tasting and planning session. you can have them but prices are not locked till 6 months out

Has anyone had their prices really change that months from 7 to 6 months out? I know the rule is 6 months, but has there ever been an instance where it's a major difference?

we didnt get any prices at our planning session, it took around4 weeks to get our budget from disney

this is a good thread i was also wondering about when to book my planning session. DF wants to do it right after we sign the contract so that we can appropriately budget ourselves for the wedding. I thought that was a little early but it makes me feel much better knowing that others have done theirs 7 months out! did you all have to wait til 6 months out to get your beo? that was something else i was concerned about. I don't want to get my beo and then prices go up.

yes we didnt get anything till after our 6 months, they say it takes around 3 weeks to do the beo anyway

I scheduled my planning session almost nine months in advance. I need to get it done before the semester started for school because waiting until it was over was too late!! Schedule it for when it works best for you because then you'll be albe to enjoy it all the more!!


PS- I am getting married at DL which is why I was able to have it done so early. I know WDW is stricter on some of their policies.

That was what my planner said that I could do it 7 months out so that my BEo would hit at 6 months I think.

We are doing our ps the middle of december which is about 7 months out and when the beo comes back I figure it will be about the 6 month mark so we will have a good idea of the cost! When I mentioned the dates for the ps my planner was great about just booking it right away! I'm sure they understand if you are going down on a vacation or just work issues or so they work around it!

We went at the 8 month mark for our planning session: it just worked out best for us to go in mid-May. We got our BEO around the seven month mark. The regular BEO came in about 2 weeks before the floral BEO.

I emailed our planner with our updated headcount last week and received an updated BEO reflecting that as well as the 2009 prices. We have had a small change in pricing but it's more because our planning session was in 2008 and the wedding is 2009. Catering prices go up, I believe, every October (which is what we were told). Our floral BEO did not go up at all.

Overall, the most recent BEO is less than the original because we anticipated 55 people would be attending but we're sitting at 47 right now.

I would say to schedule your planning session when it's convenient for you within reason.
