I want to go for a planning session but my DF will not be able to go. He cannot take any more vacation since we are going away in the summer plus the 2 weeks for the wedding/honeymoon. I don't want to go by myself so I am hoping my mother can go with me.

We were originally wanted to go the middle of February but my 8 month mark is the end of February and I was told it takes 7-10 days to make the contract. Heidi said my planning session should be in March. I asked my mother and she said she could go. Now Heidi says it is recommended that I come in April because this is when the prices will be locked in. My mother cannot go due to work obligations. From reading a few planning session reports, I was under the impression that no prices were even discussed. :confused3

I was just wondering when everyone when to their planning sessions and do you think it would make a big difference if I went in March instead. Can you sign your contract when you are there? TIA!

I had so many problems with heidi!! I ended up changing just before we contracted and was dealing with Bill

We are getting married on 2nd sep and are going for our planning session on 5th feb and our prices are not locked in till march. Our planner said that was fine cos it would take a few weeks to get the BEO done anyway!

I think the only issue with the prices not being locked in is the BEO. But like orangetiggs said, the BEO can take a couple weeks anyway. If you decide on things in March, then you may just have to wait until April to get the official prices on what you've selected.

I think it would be best to go when someone can actually go with you so if thats March then so be it. My only word of caution is that when you do the planning session early then you have LOTS of time to wait and think and change and that can be bad. I'm speaking from experience here :) I had my PS in Sept and my wedding is in April so now I have 5 months to look at my BEO and rethink EVERYTHING. Haha. In some ways it's good b/c I can really figure out how to cut costs and I have time to comb through the options. In other ways it's horrible b/c it's driving me nuts to have to wait so long and all this rethinking can be overwhelming! Just my two cents.

I hope you work something out either way. Can't wait to hear more about your plans!

I just re-read Heidi's email and I don't think she is saying I can't go for the planning session in March BUT First, she said it was fine and now she is saying I should go in April because it will gives me time you time to fill in my planning kit and have some preliminary conversations to make sure the planning session is productive. (as well as the pricing is locked in)

I will definitely go with my mother when she is able to go. It shouldn't take more than a few days to fill out this planning kit?

Thanks! Everyone is so nice on these boards.

I think March or April is just fine. We waited for our 6 month mark (we did it in Jan for our June weddding) it worked out well because not prices had to be adjusted or anything.

Then I think I will still plan on going down in March and I will just keep in mind that any prices are just an estimate and could change later on.

Pixie08, I started reading your TR and your wedding looked beautiful. I love your dress and your flowers. It looked like everyone had a really good time.

I am going 5 months before, cause it was the only time that my DFH can go. We are spending christmas together in the Happiest Place On Earth, and I am so excited cause I have never actually spent christmas in WDW. I would have gone over my spring break in Feb, but then there are only 3 months til the wedding, and they recomend 4-6 months before, and DFH doesn't have the same spring break (different university).

I was just wondering when everyone when to their planning sessions...

Shezfrombermuda, congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

I went to my planning session at the end of July and my custom vow renewal was at the end of October. If I'm counting on my fingers correctly, that was three months prior to my event. I flew to FL alone (I live on the West Coast) and had three friends join me there for my Planning Session (two live on the East Coast and one was actually located in FL at the time). The four of us had a ball (click here for my trip report).

Background info: I had an evening ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion and an after-hours progressive dinner party inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park.

Thanks Janet2K! I wish a few of my friends could go to the planning session. That sounds like alot of fun!

I haven't read your TR yet but I have seen some of your pictures. I am considering doing a dessert party at the GF marina patio but I didn't know how the view would be. I did a search and found pictures of your dessert party and everything looked great! Hopefully, my wedding will be on October 30th. Since they will be showing Hallow Wishes and my birthday is on Halloween your pictures gave me the idea of having candy apples and other halloween type desserts. The kids would really enjoy that.
