When did the Budget Board become the off-topic board?

I had been away from DIS Boards for a while, but when I returned I immediately went to the budget board for some new ideas. It seems to have become the catch-all for all kinds of non-budget questions & off-topics. I would like to respectfully suggest that DIS Boards reevaluate the boards so that they are easier to navigate by topic. Thanks.

I just scanned and think that what I saw IS budget related..budget minded Q's for just about everything
the mishmash of info and inquiries of "anything" seem to be on the community board for sure :rotfl:

:confused3

OP, I think there was a recent poll on this by the mods. I looked for a link but it appears to be gone now. The overwhelming response was that a board seperation was not wanted. There is still a lot of great infor here. Welcome back.

edited to add: I found the poll. It is a sticky at the top of the board.

Same here...I think if people took the time to read the threads they *think* are off topic, they'd realize that most really aren't.
This same topic pops up about once a month ;)

If you want information on how to save money on your Disney trip, this is the last place to look. Check the resorts board for codes, theme parks for ticket information, transportation for airfare and cars and the restaurant board for food.

The budget board is more like a shopping board. You're more likely to get pages of answers on the best vacuum to purchase than you are to get more than two responses about anything directly related to planning your Disney vacation.

I don't agree. Any money saving tip, means more money people can put toward their vacations. I like the board the way it is.

A lot of the threads that seem off topic by their titles usually are budget related because it's how to get this product cheaper or use a discount or "look at this deal I found," which helps more of us save money. And saving any type of money is budget related.

Maybe just skip over the topics that don't interest you.

-1 here too

I can't even begin to count the great non-disney deals I've found just by frequenting this forum, and I frequent a lot of budget forums :lovestruc

There are alot of "Circle" of friends on the budget board and sometimes you post where you hang out the most. I am also ok with it.

I have to agree! Just skip over the posts that don't interest you.

That's me, I've found lots of informative stuff that I guess could be "quasi-budget".
I simply skip the threads that don't interest me.

I'm not sure how long you have been gone, but I have noticed a difference in thread topics since they created the Resort codes and rates boards. So you won't find the new Disney codes, etc. here anymore. But that has been a few years now, I believe.

Other than that, I just don't open the threads that don't interest me. Although when the thread gets to be long (5, 6, 7 pages), I am usually intrigued enough to read the topic even if it doesn't interest me. Because you know some great "argument" is going on! ;)

Well, isn't your post "off topic" too since you are not asking about anything related to a Disney Budget?
I find so many deals on the budget board, some of them Disney and some not. Look at it this way, if it's not Disney and it saves you money - it's more money for Disney. ;)
And if you don't like the post, don't read it. That's simple enough. :wizard:
