I remember my father reading Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW when I was a teenager, ...just curious, does anyone know when he passed away?

1991 ....of lymphoma
great official guide...
very sad of course

I didn't know he'd died. I bought one about 4 years ago and didn't know that.

He battled the disease for many years. I am an RN who took care of him when he was hospitalized in the early 1980's. I remember him and his wife as lovely people.

I always loved the Official Guide. It was the first Disney guide I ever bought (1986 edition! ) and thought it was great fun to read. While it remains much the same, I've found I really miss Steve's personal touch and little quips throughtout the book.

He reminded me somewhat of my father who was passionate about WDW as well. I wish there was a bio about him somewhere I could read. Can't seem to come up with anything on the web.
