Visited Universal recently and no motorcycle in Terminator - how disappointing. Was not the same. When did that stop?

Hmm... We saw it twice in August.. I think one time had the bike and one didn't.. could it be the Arnold actor (or at least one of them) doesn't know how to drive a bike?

What happens when the bike isn't in the show?

Do they run thru the porthole?

The bike is just another mechanical element of the show, it has nothing to do with actors knowing how to ride it. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I've been there when the targets that come down from the celing don't go back up, and get stuck there for the whole show. The bike runs on a track on stage. When the bike doesn't work, the show goes on as normal, except that the actors dont exit through the time portal, it kinda throws you off cuz it goes from stage to a bike scene in the movie.

As I'm more-than-familiar with the show...

The motorcycle is a mechanical effect which runs on a continuous track. Every once in a while (and its actually been quite some time since we've had a bike stop, or the bike has even been out of the show) something will go wrong either mechanically or electronically and it has to be taken out of the show. The show will continue to run if there is no bike in operation, however getting it back in becomes a number one priority.
As I said before, it is actually a pretty rare occurance when the bike is out of the show nowadays (as opposed to when the show opened and it had problems all the time) -- it's really much more likely some other effect will malfunction, misfire, not activate, or any number of things. As of late though, the show has been runnning fairly smoothly.

The motorcycle was missing during our last two visits - 12/15/01 and 8/26/02. Still a great show - seen it about 10 times and it never get boring!

I was there on 11/10 and saw the show twice and it was woring both times. I had to go and sit up front the 2nd time because I really wanted to know if the motorcycle was steered or on a track.
