When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Michelle!!

Good to have you back! I rode the HM on our trip and thought about you!! That was the first time I'd ever been on it and I thought it was great!! DD rode with me and had her eyes closed and her ears plugged the entire time. "This is NOT my favourite ride," she said. LOL I bought her something afterwards to help ease the pain!!

WOOT! Gotta love the mansion - DH gave me CD for xmas...now I get to listen to it in the car:thumbsup2 Sorry DD didn't enjoy it. I think it gets less scary with time - when you know what's coming next.

Glad you're feeling better :)

2 Eagle - it's so hard to watch family drama, hard to not be emotionally involved - they're family! Keep chatting w/ us about it if you need to. I know sometimes you need to just get it all out, and it's tricky w/ folks in the real world...that's why we're here

Dragging the kids to a couple museums today before we head out to a "Diners Drive Ins and Dives" place for lunch. Hope to negate the calories with the walking! We're celebrating the anniversary of our x-country move to KS today:love:

Have a good day everyone :)

Wow, am I the first to check in so far this week?

I don't have good news unfortunately.

I'm up some since last week's weigh in. :rolleyes1

I couldn't seem to stop eating so I stuffed my face all week long and now I'm suffering the consequences.

I weighed in this morning at 223.2 which means I'm up 5.6 pounds from last week BUT...

a) it wasn't a true "first thing in the morning weigh in on an empty stomach" like I always do because I forgot about doing it at first. (So that's probably one pound).

b) I had popcorn last night and for some reason, the high fiber in popcorn always makes me heavier the following day by at least a pound or so. (So that's another pound for sure).

Does this happen to anyone else? I usually avoid popcorn because of that effect but I had the serious snacks last night and I thought a big bowl of popcorn would be better than half a box of cookies. :rotfl:

So...it doesn't look as if I'm in the running for Heather's prize but I've still got a few weeks left yet to do some damage if I can manage to get this binge eating streak turned around.

Hey!! We've had nice mild temps here for the last couple of days and the snow is melting out there like a mad fury! It's certainly helping me to perk up.

Hope everyone has a great week and good news to report!

Hello Ladies - VALENTINE'S DAY!!!:lovestruc Need I say more with a gift basket business. I will be back tomorrow. I was -.9lbs this morning though. Not great but this past week if it wasn't nailed down into my mouth it went.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!!

Hi guys!!! I'm still around - just been super busy lately and gone for the past weekend on a girls' scrapbooking weekend. Needless to say, I'm up.

Really just under 1 pound for the week, but I'm up 4 from my all time low since joining the thread.
Highly motivated now though - I'm up for a challenge!!! I have hopes to lose four pounds by my vacation - three weeks from tomorrow we leave!!!

I'll try to check in more often, but really have too much work to be online at work (like now!).

2Eagle - hope things settle down for your family - that's hard to deal with.

Julie - hang tight girlfriend!!! You've come so far, don't worry!

I'd love to hear more about Disneyland too!!!

The weekend is finally over, so now I have work to occupy my time. I'm trying to put family drama on the back burner. Unfortunately or fortunately drama has an affect on me. My stomach is tyied up in knots so the silver lining should be a weight loss next week.

I've sent my weight to Heather (is that right?). If not, let me know and I'll forward the bad news to whoever is tracking.

Julie - did the popcorn have salt on it? That will normally make me retain enought water to make a difference on the scale. Another reason I won't do chinese food on Sunday if weigh in day is Monday.

Hmmm...well Jane, I'm not sure about the sodium question. But you might be right about that.

I certainly don't add any salt but I'm guessing that it comes pre-salted cause it's microwave popcorn.

I worked out this afternoon for the first time in a week. :woohoo: It's nice be able to breathe again! However, I had to take it easy with only 20 mins of jogging instead of my usual 30. Still, I spent 2.5 hours doing housework today and I'm hoping to do the full workout on Wednesday so it was a good start.

Emotionally I'm doing just fine with my gain. (Maybe even a little too fine!!) :lmao: I'm still down 45 pounds total since May so the bit I'm up is easy to keep in perspective. Also, I have no intention of gaining any further (for some reason this area seems to be my threshold) so I've done quite well today.

And...although I did get some Valentine's day chocolate...it's just one small chocolate bar. So even if I eat the whole thing...it's only going to be six flex points (and that ain't bad!!)

Cheers folks! Hope you all have a happy Valentine's Day!!

Hi all. Sorry I didn't get here yesterday to post. It was quite a busy day. Good news, I am -3 for the week!!!! Not sure how I did it, but quite happy that I did. Now, if I can just continue up to my Disney Trip, things will be rolling again.

I haven't caught up on all the posts above. My Artistic Director is finally back in town after being gone for 2 weeks for auditions so I have lots of things to catch up with him about. I hope to get caught up on threads soon.

I hope everyone had a good "It's ok to be single and alone day". Have a great week!

Ahh I am back!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. I did, I got to spend it with 2 sexy men! My hubby and Jon Bon Jovi (okay well he was singing on a stage but I can dream). The concert was amazing but I still can't hear right.

The weekend is finally over, so now I have work to occupy my time. I'm trying to put family drama on the back burner. Unfortunately or fortunately drama has an affect on me. My stomach is tyied up in knots so the silver lining should be a weight loss next week.

Sorry to hear about your family drama. Don't families SUCK sometimes? Hope things get better soon and yes it is me that is tracking.

Hubby is away on business for the next couple of days so eating should be okay for me. I find it really hard when I am used to cooking for 2 to cook for 1 so I tend not to eat much when he is away but I am going to make a better effort these next 2 days.

I was down 1 then up 2 this week.

I hate scales!! But, they keep me honest...I think I'd be outta control if I didn't weigh in the morning. I'd convince myself I'm doing "good" then a month later be wondering why my pants were tight:confused:

Gotta get a ticker going for our trip - 116 days. :wizard:Will have to swim, it will be HOT. Which means I need to lose some more tonnage. AND buy a suit.:scared1:

Hope everyone is having a great day. I usually hate being by myself to sleep and not that it happens very oftern. I went to bed last night thinking that it would take me a while to fall asleep but I fell asleep pretty quickly and didn't wake up until 6 this morning. I was still in the same position that I fell asleep in. I just rolled over and went back to sleep for a couple of hours. Even the dog was asleep when I went to bed last night and he didn't hop up onto my bed until this morning and even then he just rolled over and went back to sleep as he is still doing now. I guess it is a lazy day feeling today since it is so gray outside. Anyways here is what I have for weight totals since the beginning of the year. Let me know if it doesn't look right as some people aren't PM me but I am getting it out of their posts.

STITCHFAN23 - +2.8

2_EAGLE_MOM - +1

MNDISNEYGIRL - -1.2

SKI_MOM - +2

STACYBAEASM - -2.9

DUTCHIE - -1.8

HAUNTEDMANSIONMOMMA - +2

MOM2FAITH - -18

STAYHOMEMOM77 - -2.5

Total - -18.6lbs. We can do this! We can get this number higher. Mom2faith is holding us all on the raft. I hope and pray all of us have a great week and we can all show - numbers next week.:grouphug:

Hi Everyone,

Heather - you are right - family drama sucks!

Thankfully both my boys and their girlfriends were over for dinner on Monday night and we had a nice normal dinner where conversation was pleasant and there wasn't a single bit of drama. I'm not sure if they knew that I needed to have a "normal" family dinner, but it was a great Valentines Day dinner for me.

My mantra this week has been "Be supportive, but there is nothing that you can do to change the situation". Its a hard one to live. During the day I'm trying to focus on work. I've been keeping up with the training for the half-marathon. This week is the "heavy" week so Monday I did 3 miles, yesteday 1.6 and brought my stuff to hit the gym on the way home from work to do another 3 miles. With my stomach in turmoil my eating hasn't been the greatest but on the plus side I was down 3 lbs this morning.

Last night I went to bed at 8:30pm and slept pretty much through the night. Taking the Tylenol PM probably helped, but I just needed the mental break of a ton of sleep.

Julie - glad you are feeling better.

Michele - 116 days! Although I don't envy you shopping for a swim suit. :scared1: I had my best luck with Land's End catalog.

Hello fellow castaways....

I've lost 3.2 pounds since Monday's weigh in so I'm feeling pretty good today! :thumbsup2

To add to the sunshine in my soul...when Heather posted the totals since the beginning of the year I realized that I had been focusing so hard on how much I gained since last week that I didn't see that I was still down overall. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to lose the entire amount that I gained last week but everything will add to that running total and I need to keep that in mind so my spirits stay up and I stay on the wagon.

I do feel like the out of control eating has come to a stop (at least for the time being) as TOM stuff has ceased to be a factor and I've had a few days to establish some good eating habits.

Last night I intended to have a chocolate bar with my flex points but when I tallied up what I had used for the day (around 8 pm) I found I still had 5 regular points and decided to have some rice crackers, meat and cheese and then a one point WW lemon cake instead. I figured I could still have the choc bar after that if I really wanted it but that I should use my daily points on healthy, filling foods.

DH had been in the washroom while I got my bits together and when he came back in the living room praised me for my sensible snacking choices. It was sweet of him to notice and comment. It made it possible to ignore the fact that the chocolate bar was still in the cupboard and I didn't use a single flex point last night after all. :woohoo: It wouldn't have been a big deal, of course...that's what the flex points are for but I was trying to get the routine of good eating habits reestablished so his support made the difference last night!

This morning I spent AGES thoroughly cleaning both bathrooms...the usual work and then extra bits like washing down all the walls and cupboard shelves and stuff. I HATE cleaning the bathrooms so I had my "Four Parks One World" CD cranked and DH was singing along to "A Pirate's Life for Me!" as he was getting his lunch ready to take to the office. I could hear him from the bathroom. :thumbsup2

There might be hope for that guy after all! :rotfl:

Michele...have I been spelling you name wrong all this time?? How rude!! SO SO SORRY! I noticed Jane wrote it with only one L and then I went back and saw that Dawn had done it that way too. Colour me embarrassed!! I'll get it right from now on, okay??

Jane...glad to hear you had a nice quiet family meal on Monday night.

Alright, I'm off. I'm hoping to get a TR update done this afternoon and I have a couple of letters to write so I've got to get cracking.

Ooooh, almost forgot. The dress I ordered looked HORRIBLE on me. But you don't have to take my word for it. I had DS take a pic for me. Also, the hot brown shoes were too narrow. Like "Cinderella's wicked stepsisters" narrow and me trying desperately to shove my feet into them was hilarious!! So, both items were returned. My silver shoes should come tonight!! Hopefully they fit properly!!

Here's the dress. I loved the colour and the material but the style just looked horrific on me and added pounds in places no one wants there to be any. On the plus side, it means I have the money in my possession again should I find something more flattering in a future shopping trip!

(I'm stalling because the photo is still uploading to photobucket!!) Okay, for real this time...the dress!!

0022.jpg

Okay, now the figure underneath that potato sack of a dress is not as svelt as I would like it to be, but man...it's not as bad as it looks there!

Anyway I returned it and my poor brown boots were shoved back into the closet. I think I head them crying a little while later. Poor little boots! I'm TRYING to find them an outfit to love.

Okay ladies...peace!! :hippie: I'm out!

Well, I finally did something worth posting about - I joined WW online last night ! It's not much, but at least it's a step.

This morning both girls had to be at school at 7:30, so DS and I went to the grocery store after dropping them off to look around a little and see how the new points system works.

I was on the prior program with the points, but this one is definately different. I need to get some good "go-to" foods so it's not always a chore to come up with something to eat.

So, hopefully I'll have a good loss to report next week along with all of our other "losers"!

Becky

Julie - I think I agree with you. The dress while nice really didn't show off all your hard work. I figure if I am going to work this hard then I better look like it.

:woohoo:Good for you. I am stil stubbornly believing that I can do this myself.:rolleyes1

I just was reading about the Everest Challenge in May at Disney. Wow it sounds like so much fun - well except for having to run 5K:lmao:! I would love to do this running, obsticle course and a scavenger hunt! Maybe I should think about this for next year. Any excuse to get to Disney as I think next year will be an off Disney year as we will probably go to Scotland to visit my Gran.

So glad I didn't have to return these ones!!

Hi Everyone,

Michele - 116 days! Although I don't envy you shopping for

a swim suit. :scared1: I had my best luck with Land's End catalog.

Yeah....I was thinking of trying a 2 piece thing with shorts as the bottom and a turtleneck as the top - anyone have success with the lands end shorts? My thighs are not allowed in public.:rotfl:

super cute shoes BTW! I saw someone w/ a purse/bag with similar flowery things. Supposed to be 60+ here today - I need to break out fun shoes too!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't checked in until now. I think I'm going through a bit of post trip Disney withdrawl blues so I haven't been on the DIS as much. I promise to do better!

I'm also quite disappointed to find myself up almost 2 pounds since Sunday's weigh-in. :sad1: That puts me 3 pounds up from my goal weight overall. I slipped back into old habits of nibbling a lot throughout the day. When we were in DLR and walking everywhere, it wasn't an issue. But once we got back I promised myself that I would buckle down and get back on plan. And I did - I've been exercising daily and staying well under my points. So the gain is a huge disappointment. I'm really beating myself up about it, too. Right now what I fear more than anything is the weight slowly coming right back on.

Barb!!

So glad you had a great trip!! Are you going to be doing a TR?? Posting pics??

I have an uncle who lives in San Diego (well in a suburb there) and he's forever trying to get us to come out for a visit. Last time we went was five years ago this summer so we're due for a visit.

I'd like to fly out to Vegas...spend a day or two there checking things out then rent a car and drive to DL so we can do those two parks and then head on to San Diego to spend some time there before heading back to Vegas and flying home. If I can get this organized for this summer or fall, I'll be picking your brains for suggestions on where to eat and what kind of touring plans to put together and that sort of thing. Just warning you now so you have time to get your powerpoint presentation put together. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

Powerpoint - ready! :thumbsup2 I hadn't planned on doing a TR really. I'm not that great of a writer, plus I'm not sure anyone would read it. Although there was the "Sully Incident" that could be interesting. Plus I really don't like to post pictures of my kids online. I do have many opinions and thoughts on DLR (including the fact that the Indiana Jones ride is way over-hyped) that I would be happy to share with anyone who asks.

I hate scales!! But, they keep me honest...I think I'd be outta control if I didn't weigh in the morning. I'd convince myself I'm doing "good" then a month later be wondering why my pants were tight:confused:

You are so right - the scales don't lie, do they? I can convince myself that I'm doing great until the scale reaches up and slaps me twice.

Your trip is going to be here faster than you know it!

Hi Everyone,

Heather - you are right - family drama sucks!

Yes. It. Does.

Michele is so right - it's really hard to watch and just be an observer when the drama starts. I know you realize this but there's really nothing you can do - everyone involved is an adult and they make their own decisions, good or bad. (At least, this is what I tell myself when my family drama starts.) Please remember that in addition to your wonderful DH and sons, we're also here whenever you need us.

The new program is quite a bit different, isn't it? Yesterday I was at the grocery store and struggling to come up with a few "go to" snacks and foods. I think it's good because it's a more comprehensive nutritional view, but after being so comfortable with the old points system it's a challenge getting this one down. My SIL startedin January and LOVES the new points so it's just the old-timers having trouble adjusting. I'm anxious to hear your results this week! :thumbsup2

Who has the hottest new shoes in the universe??

ME!!!!!!!

Yes you do! Those are great! But I agree, the dress was just not flattering on you. You should only wear stuff that shows off all of your hard work.

Speaking of shopping.... Kohl's is currenlty having a big sale. And I got a 30% off coupon in the mail from them. And thanks to her growth spurt, DD is in desperate need of shorts for the summer. And none of my shorts currently fit. So there might be a little shopping trip in my future tonight.

Yeah....I was thinking of trying a 2 piece thing with shorts as the bottom and a turtleneck as the top - anyone have success with the lands end shorts? My thighs are not allowed in public.:rotfl:

I love love LOVE  shorts as bathing suit bottoms. I got my suit last year at JC Penney and it was by far my most favorite bathing suit ever. Plus with all of the swimming we did, it held up really well. I don't remember if they had any of the full rash-guard tops, though.

Hi all! Well, I'm having another crazy week with eating but the opposite of last week - now I'm finding I'm not hungry at meal times. Yesterday I ate my cereal for breakfast and had my midmorning snack as usual but when lunch came around, I just wasn't interested. I put it aside and figured, I'll be hungry in an hour or so. Nope, never happened. In fact, I didn't get hungry until about 8pm last night. It's now 10am here and I still haven't had anything but water. I don't know what my body is doing but I guess I need to ride it out and see what happens.

Michele, have you ever tried Just my Size or Woman's Wear for swim suits? I just got the latest Woman's Wear catalog and they had a great selection of mix and match 2 pieces with shorts or swim skirts and tops. I know they are online as well and the prices are better than Lands End, at least in my opinion.

It's almost the weekend! I'm holding on. I have a group of 16 teenagers in Disney right now, getting ready to do workshops and then sing at Downtown Disney. Luckily, I'm coordinating from here rather than being there with them because it is CROWDED down there this weekend.

Regarding not being hungry/not eating - that's pretty much the premise behind the weight loss program I'm doing thru work. The mantra is "It's not what you eat, but when and how" basically, don't eat until you're hungry! Sounds like that's what you're doing:thumbsup2 I have not had breakfast most days since I started. I find I'm not hungry until 11. I'm still alive!:lmao:

Yeah....I was thinking of trying a 2 piece thing with shorts as the bottom and a turtleneck as the top - anyone have success with the lands end shorts? My thighs are not allowed in public.:rotfl:

I got a one piece and then put the skirt on top of that (this has an extra bonus of a little more spandex around the tummy and more tummy control), then if I'm out in the sun I wear a swim shirt on top of the suit. I bought the actual swim guard shirts from someplace online for Jim and I but then for the kids I found some long sleeve workout shirts at WalMart that had 50 SPF and were only $10. They wear them whenever we are in the water and they have stayed sunburn free. I would be quite happy to only do the swim shirt and skirt, but I had to find something that would hold the girls up.

I had a good day yesterday. I took the day off and after running some errands, Jim and I went into SF. We had tickets to the Cartoon Museum and then tickets to see Avenue Q. The weather was pretty crummy for walking around the city, but we made the best of it and just enjoyed the day away from work. We had dim sum for lunch and then were so full that we just had a snack for dinner (I had pineapple gelato). The show was funny and took me away from my drama for a little while. Just what I needed. I'm off till Tuesday and plan on just taking it easy and getting stuff done around the house (tax prep, work on an Eagle ceremony for a friend, grochery shopping, maybe check out the sales). Oh, and we have to hit the gym if the weather doesn't improve. We have to log in 7 miles today or tomorrow for our training.

I was down on the scale earlier this week, but that was when I wasn't eating much so hopefully now that things have settled down I can keep my calories in check and keep up with the downward trend.

Julie - love the shoes! Do you have an outfit picked out for them? Did you Lime Green Mickey your toes just for the picture? When I asked for them to do that on my toes they were really confused that I didn't want the face as well.

Barb - as long as you are aware that you have gained a little back you can get back down. It's when you completely drop all thought of how much you are eating (or just don't care anymore) that's when the trouble starts. You've done it before, you can do it again.

Ok, I'll ask "what was the Sully incident"? I'm sorry you didn't like the Indy ride, its one of my favorites. How did you like our Pirates, Hauted Mansion, Splash and Space Mountain? Those are the rides that I like better at DL than WDW.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. It's so helpful to know that I can come here and "let it all out". I really don't want to talk about this with my co-workers and while the family is supportive, I really don't want to keep talking it over and over with them. Having you all to come to for support has kept me sane over this past week. I'm learning to release what I can't control. It's difficult at times, but I'm getting better at it each day.

Ok, off to watch some DVD's with Jim...a great rainy day activity.
