When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Hi everyone,
Back from my 4 days away and while I am not celebrating I am happy with my progress this week. I am -.5lb After spending 4 days away with a bunch of guys who really don't know what healthy eating is, beer galore around and weird eating times I wasn't sure what this week would bring. I ate ok, not great but not horrible either, I did limit myself to the one beer that I promised (if that really - hubby finished it for me). I did not get my water or exercise in though.

Here's to a great week everyone!

Alright. First of all, I ended up earning myself 50 exercise points for the week, last week. I was very proud of that. So, colour me surprised when my scale told me I had only lost 1.5 pounds. :confused3

Needless to say, I was pretty bummed. I guess I had expectations of a 2+ pound loss and when my body didn't deliver, I was irritated.

However, I shook it off after about 10 minutes (by telling myself that since there had been a recent spike in temps and humidity here lately, I was still retaining a bit of water--who cares if it's a lie, as long as it works?? :rotfl:) and forged ahead today.

I had the opportunity to go pick tomatoes this morning. I have a friend who's got a farmer buddy who said we could help ourselves to as many Roma tomatoes as we wanted...FOR FREE!! So she and I headed out to his field and in about 2 hours managed to pick six bushels. I only kept about a two bushels..she took the rest, but I gotta pass them out to friends, neighbours (heck, even strangers) and find some recipes so I'm able to can salsa, tomato soup, spaghetti sauce...whatever!!

Okay, so I should do that again, I think!!

I'm down another 1.5 pounds, bringing me to a total WISH loss of 37 pounds and an overall loss of 43 pounds.

:woohoo::yay::cheer2::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

I need a brick wall to bang my head against. Anybody got a spare one?

So DH and I are talking this afternoon and I'm wallering in self pity, talking about the scale and my issues last week etc.

And he comes out of no where and says he's really struggling with WW this time around and about how much he misses Livestrong.

Say what Say what?!

I about smacked him upside the head.

If y'all will remember I tried for months and months to convince him to do Livestrong, and he would never do it. Then finally he tried it and agreed that it was easy to use but not once, never ever did he say he preferred it to WW.

So when we went back to WW about a month ago I thought I was doing what he had wanted all along since neither one of us were doing well on Daily Plate anyway!

Imagine my surprise when a FREAKING month later he tells me he never wanted to go back to WW, he liked Livestrong better anyway.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I don't know what I'm gonna do. He wasn't the only reason I wanted to go back to WW, but he was a large part of it. Because I thought he preferred it and it would be easier for him to focus on weight loss if we were doing the program he preferred. Which in turn helps me because when he's on board, we eat and buy and cook things that are better for my 'diet'.

I told him to go back to Livestrong and that we had just paid for a new month of WW so there was no point cancelling now anyway. That I was gonna give it some thought and decide what *I* want to do. That if we end up doing two different programs, fine. We can each input the recipe in our respective programs and count it the way we each count it. That it doesn't matter as long as we're both working towards the same end goal and are trying to watch what types of food we eat.

*SIGH*

I am beyond frustrated that he didn't express how he felt 4 weeks ago when we started WW again but I'm also frustrated with myself that I can't seem to make a decision about which program I want to do. In theory they should be basically the same principle. And you guys, me making decisions, well that's not something I struggle with in general.

But this one has me thrown.

With all that being said, I was up +2.2 this morning.

I think.

I was also down -10 at one points and -4 at one point. Yeah. I think my scale is on the fritz. I grabbed the weight that made the most sense to me since I feel like I ate way too much last week and not exactly healthy choices. But who knows what the scale is gonna say tomorrow. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to break down and buy a new scale. And suck it up because the first week I weigh in is gonna be a booger. EVERY scale I've weighed in on (doc's, mom's, sister's) is higher than the one we have at home.

Congrats to all you losers! Big  to those struggling. I'll be back to comment later on this evening. Gonna curl up with a blanket and Desperate Housewives while DH is out doing the yard and DS2 is napping. DS7 doesn't have any homework tonight. They have some sort of cognitive ability testing tomorrow at his school. Kind of a nice reprieve I guess.

Y'all have a great night! Wish me luck tonight on football. My fantasy team needs the Green Bay Packers defense to have a killer game. :lmao:

:grouphug: everyone!

So I'm at -1 lb from last week, I can't even add a plural "s" to the "lb" but I guess I'll take it. After all the volunteer work and exercises this weekend, I thought there would be a bigger drop. I'm going to re-start my tracking on here as well. Here goes:

Breakfast - 1 cup of steel cut oatmeal, 1 hard boiled egg
Lunch - Indian dal makhani and vegetable curry with 1 piece of garlic naan bread
Snack - 1 Kashi honey almond flax granola bar
Dinner - Romaine salad with rotisserie chicken, almonds, cheese and dried cranberries tossed in raspberry vinaigrette dressing

Exercise: 55 minutes on the elliptical

I have thought about getting into a 5K...thanks to you, in fact. When I read you did/do the Princess Marathon, I determined that I would like to run at Disney some day...just like Bree.

Originally, I planned on waiting until I got below 200 before worrying about jogging, but I've been feeling so fit lately (I am convinced that the mirror and the scale are liars) so, the other day I just thought I'd give it a go and really enjoyed it. And I found I was fit enough to maintain a slow jog for longer than I ever dreamed I could so now the goal of running a race isn't so far out of reach.

My hubby has been running this year, a 5K and and 8K so far with two more 5K's planned as well as a 10K. In fact, there's a 5K at 7 am in Epcot the morning we leave Disney (January 7th) and he's thinking about running in it. The only problem is that he'd miss the awards ceremony because it's on the Sunday.

Anyway, I'd like to do that sometime in the future and it's certainly a goal for me to work towards.

Have been meaning to respond to this ALL weekend! It's been busy around here.

Thank you Julie, this was so sweet, and a major ego boost. I am such a "little dog" compared to all of my running friends who are all "big dogs" (meaning they all run so fast & are all so thin), so to be an inspiration to anyone makes me feel like a queen....errr uh princess ;)
And we'll also be in WDW marathon weekend (the day of the 5k, the day you're leaving) We'll have to see if we can schedule a dismeet.

Ok, today I got back on the old WW bandwagon. Figured if it helped me lose 15 pounds a few months ago why not do what works. I'm giving myself until Thanksgiving to lose between 12-17 pounds, after that I'm done paying for WW. If I can't pull it together, then so be it. So I'm calling my little challenge "Operation Fat Fight". I got my gloves on, & I'm ready to battle. :rotfl:

So here's what I've eaten today
brkfst - banana, coffee w/creamer (yes I know this wasn't much I needed to go grocery shopping)
lunch - 3 oz. deli turkey on 1 piece of whole grain bread, 1/2 c. lima beans
snack - bell peppers dipped in light ranch
dinner - homemade lentil soup, 1/2 a salmon patty
Points total - 19
This leaves me a little room to eat a little something sweet if the mood strikes

Exercise - Swam 45 mins

Need to go back and read everyone's posts from the weekend

Whew!! Had a bit of an eating fest tonight...don't worry I'm well within my flex points but I did use up about 17 of them on fresh made bread (thank goodness I froze the other loaves and was only able to eat what was left over from the one we had at dinner), popcorn and a little Haagan Daaz ice cream bar.

So I only have about 17 flex points left for the week, although I've already earned myself 12 exercise points and it's only day one. I'm probably good!!

I have been trying to figure out WHY I ate so much though. I'm not sure if it was because

a) I had a REALLY busy and labour intensive day, making me hungrier
b) I had a carb rich dinner and it led me to crave more carbs later on
c) I still had some latent displeasure about the weigh in this morning which led to emotional eating
d) I needed to eat to keep from falling asleep in front of the t.v.

or

e) some other reason that hasn't occurred to me

My money's on the second option...I even said to hubby as I filled my plate that I hadn't had that many carbs in one sitting for at least three months.

So, back to a higher protein diet tomorrow and hope it was a one day occurrence.

Bree:

A DIS meet would be fun!!

I'm glad I could provide you with an ego boost. I actually left the house to jog today (as opposed to running circles in my living room) and was only able to make it for 10 mins. I was really disappointed but since I'd just returned home from the tomato picking excursion, I had to remind myself that my 4 point breakfast (eaten five hours before my run) had long since worked off and I didn't have a lot of energy reserves to draw from.

I tried to keep a nice slow pace but my breathing was quite ragged for the last three minutes so I just couldn't push myself any further. I'll try and go for longer on Wednesday but the beauty of my living room is that I have the music from the workout DVD to guide me on the pace.

Operation Fat Fight...I LOVE that. :worship: I might just steal it!!:rotfl2:

I think your goal is quite a reasonable one. And you can still follow the program even without your membership if you still have a few pounds to go.

Here's hoping you get a T.K.O. against Fat but Thanksgiving!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Allison – What symptoms exactly do they say start that early? I had a blood test and my doctor said that I wasn’t in peri-menopause, but I’m doubtful.

Tebi (just realized we have 2 Allison’s) – Cute dog. I hope Malachi is feeling better.

Julie – Congratulations on the 1.5lbs. I totally think it takes a week or so for your body to get used to the extra exercise. If you keep up the pace I bet you have a big loss next week.

Aimee – I hope you have some insight and are able to decide on which program you prefer. Sometimes switching things up is helpful. You know when you first start a program and you are all excited and enthusiastic. If you switch up your program just as you are getting complacent you might be able to keep the momentum going longer.

I’m thrilled with my eating today. Steven had an appointment and we finished right before lunch. On the way back I drove past every single fast food joint and I REALLY wanted to stop and get some. Instead I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a salad and some 100 calorie treats.

Breakfast: raisin bran w/ff milk
Lunch: Oriental chicken salad, 100 calorie chex mix
Snack: Banana
Dinner: halibut with baked fries
Dessert: low fat strawberry ice cream, nectarine

I am really struggling. I can't seem to get myself back on the wagon. :sad2: The weight I'm at right now has historically been a holding point for me. My body is going 'ok, this is better, let's just stay here', then I begin sabotaging myself and snacking like crazy.

I forgot to post yesterday; I'm -0.8 this week. With how I've been eating and how inactive I've been...well, color me surprised is all I can say. :confused3

Congrats to all the losers this week, and my heart goes out to all those who are struggling with the hungry monster like me!

Hey Gals!

I just read about a great deal on Lane Bryant for jeans. I don't need to order anymore. I have several smaller sizes hanging in my closet waiting for me to lose another 20 lbs! GRR!

But with all of you ladies that are shrinking, I thought I'd share the deets so maybe someone could take advantage.

Lane Bryant's Right Fit Jeans are normally 54.00 bucks. Right now they are on sale for 24.99 and then there's a coupon for $20 off $60. So you can basically get 3 pairs for the price of 1!

Add coupon code 030004511 at check out.

You can select ship to store if you have one near you or pay the flat rate of $7 bucks for shipping.

Thought I'd share!

Hope everyone's having a great day!

Here is the weight losses from this week and if anybody had not sent in theirs this week, I used last weeks.

We are doing really great and I cannot thank you all enough for being beyond patient with me.

There has been some hoopla about our upcoming trip and those who read the PTR, I have explained in greater detail.

The gist is that until last night, I was not sure if I needed to find people to watch Baylor for 10 days because my ex, decided he would not be able to have Baylor go. (He and Carsyn were going to go look at colleges and also be at Parents weekend for Treyner.) Nothing huge but stressful since I am going to be gone and he does no planning on making arrangements for kids.

Then we have Carsyn's medical issue. 2 years ago, she had a medical implant to help her kidneys/bladder function better. Actually the 50th kid in the country to have this device that is like a pace maker for your heart but it is for other pieces on her.

It is not working like planned, the device has all these electrodes hooked up to her spine and each has at least 5 different settings. So if it is not working, we drive to Minneapolis, see the doc who has the master control to change these etc. Over and over it has been. Monitoring, writing what she eats, drinks, sleep cycles etc. so they can see if there is a pattern. She is upset because it was supposed to just be simple but it has not been and she is wondering if she should have it removed. Huge decision and a lot of research is going into this. So I know you all understand but it just makes it hard to figure out where to focus my time and I need to not use it as a reason to slide back.

I am going to WW tomorrow and from my scale, I am only up a bit over 2 pounds in 3 weeks since I last went. I know that is not bad and I have a good start back tracking from yesterday.

Is anyone here on WW and using their points tracker on line? I can't seem to copy and paste my food entries so I guess that means I just will re-write it here if there is no alternative!!

Dan and I leave in 2 weeks from today. Literally will have arrived in Atlanta and be on our car journey there!!!

Speaking of which!!!! Miss. Jane is ready to go soon....I should have her hide a penny for me to find.....:goodvibes

Really trying to up my protein and not turn to chocolate!

I also walked for 16 minutes mid morning today and took one dog out for a walk and will do the same later for the other dog. Need to be moving at least 30 minutes a day and will get to 60 minutes within a few weeks with 2- 30 minute segments. Today I dressed way to warm for what the temp was out.

Sept. 27 DONE

I have more veggie in my lunch today!
I just went on a wak for almost 40 minutes, went almost 2 miles. Have to go change and get back to work now. Ugh.

Dawn - I'd be happy to hide a penny. I actually have just the right one. I just found it this weekend. Its a brand new Nassau penny.

What are the rules of hiding a penny?

It's getting harder and harder to eat healthy around here. We are trying to clean out the fridge so we are running out of fresh veggies and fruit. Tomorrow nights meat will be bacon:scared1: Jim bought 4lbs of it. Luckily Steven and Jenny will be coming over and hopefully Brendan and Charlotte as well to help us plow through all that meat.

Things are stressful at work trying to get everything done before I leave. Of course this week my co-worker is out sick so I'm having to cover her stuff as well. Today my 1 1/2 hour budget meeting lasted for almost 3 hours. I just hope that I can get a couple of major items crossed off my list tomorrow, if not, I may just work late when it is quiet to get stuff done. The only good thing about so much work is I don't have time to snack on junk.

No tracking today. :confused3

Lunch: beef and potato soup, salad. 8pts.
Snack: Apple/PB. 3pts.
Dinner: turkey, green beans, fruit. 9pts.
Total: 26 pts.
Water: 40 oz. Trying...
Excercise: 3 miles.

Tracking for yesterday, 9/28:

Breakfast: Cinnamon toast crunch with 1% milk, half of a banana, 1 hard boiled egg
Lunch: 2 slices of thin crust veggie pizza, 1 fruit cup
Snack: Frozen yogurt bar
Dinner: 5 piece nuggets from Wendy's, side caesar salad and a few fries dipped in Frosty

Not a good day as far as eating goes... I feel you guys on the whole momentum eating thing. I started the day off badly with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Usually I get something healthy like Cheerios or raisin bran for cereal at the cafeteria, but they were out and the alternative was Trix or Lucky Charms. So after eating all that sugary goodness in the morning, I felt like the day's worth of dietary requirements were already shot, so might as well as just give up and have a pig out day. Granted my pig out wasn't as bad as it could've been, but pizza and Wendy's on a same day is pretty bad for me. Ugh, and I didn't go to the gym either.

Wow, after writing it all out, I'm like :headache:... why did I do this to myself? Today, I will make up for it.

Morning!

Jane - I'm so jealous that you'll be at WDW in a few days. I love it there this time of year, plus F&W festival is an added bonus. Can't wait to hear about your trip.

Dawn - Hang in there. A couple points over your daily total isn't bad. And you're aware of it so that's good. Here's hoping that everything turns out ok with Carsyn.

Aimee - So will you stay on WW while DH goes back to livestrong? It seems doable. That way y'all can still eat the same things.

So here's what I ate yesterday:

Tues:
brkfst - plain instant grits w/1 serving egg beaters, coffee w/creamer
snack - 1/2c cottage cheese w/1/2c. frozen berries thawed
lunch - 1 serving lentil soup w/5 saltine crackers
snack - handful cherry tomatoes & bell pepper strips
dinner - frozen chicken patty on arnold thin, w/brown rice sugar snap pea salad(WW recipe)
dessert -sugar-free jell-o pudding cup
late snack - small handful goldfish

point total - 21.5 (my daily total is 22)
exercise - ran 4.25 (most of this was hill repeats for my marathon training) My quads through my glutes were screaming after this.

Dawn - be sure to wave at me when y'all head through Atlanta!

Yesterday I went to the gym, but decided not to do any weight work, but focus on cardio. Had read about and heard on The Doctors (does anyone else watch this show - Dr. Travis....grrrrr, woops, sorry) that interval training is better for calorie and fat burn.
In other words, change what you are doing every 2 minutes or so.....
For instance, if you are on the treadmill, doing your normal thing (mine is 2.5mph at this time), after 2 minutes, jack up the speed to as fast as you can go for 2 minutes. Then back to normal for regular. It would also work with the incline, I jack it up to about 5 or 6 for a couple of minutes.
I did this on the treadmill for about 25 minutes, the crosstrainer for 10 minutes and the bike for 10 minutes.
Man, I really felt it after all that!!! Hope it reflects in the weight loss arena!
