If you've been in DCA when it is open until 10pm or so, what have your wait times been for TSM? Curious if the line is shorter at that time or still in the 40+ min wait timeframe. Thanks for sharing your recent experience.

We were there in October. DCA usually opens gates at 9:30 for a 10:00 opening. If you are in line you can walk to the holding area. We did this and once it was 10:00 we walked quickly to TSMM. There was only about a 15 minute wait then. Once we got off, the wait had moved to 40 minutes. We saw this pattern twice.

It is a GREAT ride though. Hoping for FP for it some day!

Thanks, Shimmer! After reading my post again, I realize I wasn't very clear LOL!

Let me try again....

I'm curious to know what the wait times are like right around CLOSING. I know sometimes, not always, that crowds clear out of the parks later on into the night. Curious if the wait times for TSM are just as long near closing time as they are during the rest of the day. (DCA will close at 10pm on the days we'll be there)

Thanks!

It is open during WOC.

I received the tip to try between 1-3PM which played out well exept for the days I was in the park... ( I was checking on my phone app for a month before going)

I would think your best day would be Tuesday or Wednesday. I did see wait times of 23 minutes last wed but we were in DL.

I was there last week and specifically rode during WOC and I could not see a depriciable amount of people in line, DRAT!! We did watch some of the fire features of WOC from the backside while waiting in line but it wasn't shorter. One night it was down for awhile and they evacuated the line. I didn't want to go too far and rode the wheel. Just as I was getting off that ride I could see the line had been re-opened. I hop over there and get in line, hoping the word hasn't gotten out that it's back open. Its still a 30 minute wait. DOUBLE DRAT!! Another night I hot-foot it over for a last minute entry to the line at closing. It's still a 30 min. wait. TRIPLE DRAT!! I wasn't able to be there at opening much this trip, they've closed down the single rider line that was offered, and the don't offer FP like at WDW. So, I did the best I could with what I had and it didn't do much good. Did I do better than others on these days than those that had to wait 45-60 minutes? maybe, maybe not.

Better luck to you.

It has been awhile but we had a similar experience in late July. We thought TSMM would have lower lines late at night. Nope. The line managed to stay long (30+ minutes) all the way til closing. We never rode it.

This past Saturday we got in line with a 45 minute wait.... about 1/3 of the way in WOC started it's 1st showing.. the line behind us still seemed to be adding more and more people tho...

By the time we got off the ride the wait time said it was only 25 minutes and the line started past Mr Potato Head well into the area where they have the umbrellas and the line turns. Don't know how long it stayed that way tho as we left that side of the park as soon as we were done.

ETA: the night before we got there and the ride was down. They said it had been down for about 20 minutes with no estimated time of reopening... after walking all the way over there from DLR just for that ride I was disappointed, so took DD on the carousel over there. When we got off the carousel I looked over to be sure they were still closed and saw they were now testing the cars and sending cast members trough the ride... I took my chances with the rest of the crowd and stood there anticipating them opening up any minute. One of the cast members over there was shouting that there " was NO LINE" and the ride was "NOT going to be opening up anytime soon" trying to get us all to disburse. We all ignored him and low and behold within 4 minutes they opened up the line again.
One very large 20-something year old almost ran my dd(5) over to get in front of us. BAH! Seriously why!? We (the ones standing there waiting) were all on with in 5 minutes of the line opening. That was all so random tho... can't plan that.
